Meet Place: Whoever has the biggest TV

So anyone want to host a MotoGP viewing party on the 23rd? The racing starts at 11:00a.m. that day with WSBK, then it's over to Laguna Seca for Superbike, Supersport, MotoGP and Formula Extreme.

That's awesome! Put me down +1.

I may not be able to ride my new bike, but I can still enjoy motorcycling.

:D

My TV is a 30", who can do better than that?

Where are you, Nate? I have a going away party to attend later in the day, but I may be able to stop by and enjoy the race with fellow fanatics for a while in the morning!

I've just got a 27 inch TV in a small living room. I'd like to nominate my brother's place as he has a giant TV and a big sitting area, but I don't think his wife would appreciate that.

Cleaning up is not necessary for us Robert but if you promise to clean the house up, maybe your wife will be more accepting of the idea.... Just a thought.

Funbike will ony do the big tv's and BBQ on sunday for the MotoGP championship.

I'm at Funbike now with hurley (mike) and its dead. No big screens and certainly no bbq. Nice place though.

Oh well. Looks like I'll be looking for a diff spot to view the races.

Rocky- It was nice to meet you man! Too bad FBC wasn't doing anything today. But look on the bright side!...

...at least we got a little Air Conditioning during our ride today! And hopefully you didn't catch any of that down pour in Murrieta.

What did you think of the movie?

Alright, so I'm thinking about going back to Fun Bike Center down in San Diego.

But I don't really feel like going solo. Anyone one up for it?

Rocky
Mon 7/24/06, 8:12AM
What up Mike.

Nah we didnt go to the movies after all. We saw a bit of shade from the rain clouds and booked it home. We got hit with about 10 drops of rain but that was it. We got home in about 30 min so we were glad we just headed home.

I'm glad we met up, thanks for rollin out to Ortega with us after a sad outing at Funbike. I'm glad they were able to redeem themselves on sunday with you and justice.

We'll have to meet up again sometime.

It was decent.. for free. The best part was that the place had good A/C, which I don't have at my house. Oh yeah.. how about Pedrosa. That kid is fast. I've been following him since the 250's.

Those were some crazy races. What happened to Ros's bike anyway? He was creepin up then smoke went up...

druiid
Mon 7/24/06, 8:26AM
Engine blew. Probably overheated due to the temps there.

Rocky
Mon 7/24/06, 8:31AM
Do you think that Kentucky kid would have still edged out Ros head to head?

I dont know enough history on MotoGP right now but that race was impressive for both riders.

druiid
Mon 7/24/06, 8:43AM
I doubt Rossi would have made it to a battle from the position he managed to edge up from. I highly doubt he would have made it around Pedrosa. If he managed to do that, though... he would still have been at too much of a lap dis-advantage. Now, if it was Hayden first and Rossi second.. at Laguna Seca that's pretty much home territory for Hayden. He probably would have managed to best Rossi... this is of course my opinion.

Hayden and his team won fair and square. Everyone had to ride on the same track in the same conditions, and obviously the Honda team handled the challenge better than everyone else.

We had a mini-viewing party at my brother's house since he has a big TV. What I think was more fun than watching the races was playing Dance, Dance Revolution afterword. Man, that game's a hell of a workout! But am I glad no one had a camera.

Good race, although not as tight as you'd like it to be...I guess that's the nature of that track though. Too bad Vermulyen couldn't keep up the pace and put a Suzuki up on the podium. Anyway, am I the only one who thought the coverage of the race kind of sucked? I know that Speed was using the official MotoGP video feed but there were a couple of times when something had happened and the announcers were clueless (I specifically remember when Hayden took the lead and it took the announcers about a full half lap before they realized what had happened. Same thing when Rossi blew up).

Oh well, still fun to watch. The temps must have been hell though...kind of glad I wasn't there!

I was wondering that same thing. They'd go to commercial and Rossi moved up like 4 positions and the announcers didnt care to mention it. Same thing with what you mentioned. Those announcers are not exactly on top of the "play by play"

The same type of stuff occured during the Formula Xtreme race... It seemed like the announcers where playing catch up with the camera.

Yeah it was funny when they said Rossi was in 5th when I could clearly see he was listed as 4th...too bad about yet another DNF from Rossi. Ugh.

It will be interesting to see if ABC is able to improve on the coverage of the race since they've got a whole extra week to get it right!

Yeah...myself and Druiid noticed the delay in the first position change.

And then when the Top 10 positions were shown in the corner of the screen and Rossi was nowhere to be found when he was just making a run for Vermuelen. And it took them a good 30 sec. to show him in the dirt. Kind of disappointing, but what can you do?
