Prob most of us have checked this out already, but "SVSmiles" on the main board has started a pictorial SV maintenance and mod website...it's still a work-in-progress, but so far the quality of what he's doing is amazing! The pics alone blow away pretty much everything else I've seen...I think it's good enough that we could add it as a permanent link someplace here...take some time to check it out:

That home pic almost makes me wanna cry! sniff...
Nice.. Thanks, I added to our "Web Links (http://www.socalsvriders.com/links.php)" SV resources.
If there are any other cool motorcycle related pages, please use the Add a Link (http://www.socalsvriders.com/links.php?op=AddLink) feature to submit links.

I would just like to say well done to SVSmiles on such a nice site he's created. Keep it up 'cause you're doin' a great job. I have made my own mods to my bike, one of them happens to be an aluminium fender eliminator which I must say looks superb and am very happy with. Also I made new indicator/licence plate holder from aluminium to go with the new fender. The rear plate light has been replaced with a ford Fiesta unit which is smaller and fits flash underneat. I am getting a new digital camera soon so then I'll be able to send pictures to anybody interested.

Thank you sooo much for posting this thread! I spent today doing the home rear fender eliminator from this website and it went sooo well. I did it all by myself too. My boyfriend and his friend were changing out his stearing head bearing and I was just kinda standin around watchin' when I was like "hey, I might as well do something to my bike!" So I look up this site and follow the steps.
The guys weren't really paying any attention and later went to cycle gear to get a new tire. When they came back I was pretty close to being done. And they were even impressed that I did it all by myself.
The point is that the directions and pictures are so well done that I did it with no problems. I'll take a pic and post it when I get a chance. Very happy with the outcome and saved a lot of money!!! Didn't spend a dime.

Congrats on getting rid of the "big black ugly"!!! (that would be the hideous rear fender - still have mine :o ) Anyway, a guy named Miles, with the handle "SVSmiles" from the main board put that site up...it would be great for you to email him directly and thank him...he obviously is pretty anal-retentive and put a lot of time into those pics! Hopefully, he can find the time to document the other stuff!!!
Post some pics soon!
Yes, Id like to e-mail the maker of that site and thank him for the detailed step by step process.. I followed it word for word/pic for pic... and had the black fender removed and signals in, 3 days after I purchased my bike... (little nervous about using a hacksaw on my new shiney bike).. anyway it all went well, I went to his site again to look for an e-mail, and all I could find was an adress for donations, and a suggestions link... but no e-mail.....

How's it going? Is your bike done? I thought for sure I had mentioned this site to you when we were corresponding...if not, then perhaps it was because you were in AZ and at that time, it was pretty exclusively SoCal members only. Since then i know there are peeps from back east and even overseas on this forum!!
Anyway, hope all's well...ride safe!

Hey miles, we all love your site. I know I've spent a lot of time there drooling over your mods and hoping to see the writeups appear.
Are you having issues with hosting? Is that why you might need to shut it down?
BTW, I think there's a pretty big line of guys waiting for britt's boyfriend to step aside... You are number 582. :D
i checked out this site today when svsmiles signed up. thought it was pretty cool and easy to follow.

Yeah I agree.
His site is awesome. Just looked through it and the detail he put into explaining the mods is amazing. I don't think anyone could fuck up with those directions.
Anyway...we should try and help the guy out to keep the page up.
Paul, would it be possible to have him share space with this site? That is one thing that we a re lacking here, is a mods how to kinda section.

Why are you people only finding it now? They should give out that url when you buy the bike.
It took me a long time to find socalsvriders.com too... oh.. wait... n/m
But ya, I've ask to see if he wants server space for his site. No strings attached.

Great tutorial of chain cleaing. Love the homemade chain scrubber (two toothbrushes taped together).
I think its funny how you spraypainted it silver to make it look more official. :D

I dunno, I don't think that would be worse than that chopped up tandem SV (http://www.socalsvriders.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2352).

I cut out a piece of aluminium and replaced the rear part that was cut as in the instructions on project SV here is the result. I tried scanning the template I did but it does not fit into my scanner. I will if I succeed in scanning it faitfully. Like the wheels?

No they were digitally done by photoshop on computer. I just wanted to get some reaction from you guys before I take the plunge and do them for real in Gold metalic paint.

If so, touch base with me via email and we can talk details on how you might go about it without me there.
If not, still keep in touch about how it turned out by following the 99-02 fender elm instructions so I can tell others if it still helped out with an 03
Hey I just finally saw this... Yes, I'll take some pics and try to document everything as best I can... I'm going to email you directly too to say this, but I thought I'd post it so other curious people can see.

I would totally buy a project-sv t-shirt... Have you thought about doing something like that?
If you don't have an easy way to set up a store and get shirts printed (which some people on this board might be able to help with) you could always use cafe press or a similar service.
I really like the site, and as soon as I can stop bumming lunch off friends, I'll try to pitch in.

Again, initial funding and timing of developing something like this would be as much a concern as the current site efforts are now. With that said, please anyone in the know fire away at me how we could make this happen.
That's the advantage of cafe press. There's no cost to you to set up the store. The time involved is in creating the images you want on the items. They print items on demand, and you set how much above their cost you want to charge.
The disadvantage is that their 'costs' are kinda steep, and I don't think they can do black shirts yet, just white or grey... they have a lot of other stuff... project-sv frisbee?
Oooh, project-sv thongs?
Here's my cafepress store:

I don't know that its the best solution for you, but its an option.

I can't seem to find any links to project sv. Did something happen to it? I wanted to see how to do the fender elimination and I know I saw a detailed explanation of how to do it two years ago.
Serves me right for being lazy, but now that there's snow on the ground and I have plenty of shop time, might as well.
Another good fender elimination page for the pre-'03 SVs:

ps. Brienne lost her Scorpion exhaust at Willow Springs racetrack a long time ago.
