Ok so I'm getting to my race report a bit late...sorry Trey. I know you've been up at night restless wondering why I haven't written my report. So without further adue....
Fact: It was hot as hell out.
The heat of Saturday practice boiled my brain so much that I can vaguely even remember riding my bike that day. Anywho, a typical incident free practice day on my new Michelin Power Race tires (or tyres if you're William). Prior to this date I've been running Pilot Powers, which usually suited my purposes just fine but I figured I'd step it up a bit. All in all I feel pretty good about the tires, they held up well and kept the bike upright all day despite the searing heat. I don't like the price tag on them however but I guess that just goes with racing. **note** these tires are now on sale in the "Marketplace" section of this board. If there was anything I were to notice specifically different about these tires is the rear tire pressure (22 psi) which is lower than I'm used to. But they never really felt squishy or anything like that.
On Sunday (it was equally hot outside) and my race was almost the last one of the day so I got to hang out all day in the heat...that was fun! The race was a blast. Unfortunately someone crashed in lap 1 at the top of turn 4. I almost ran the guy over as he tumbled on the tarmac. Luckily he was able to escape the traffic unscathed. Not sure who he was though (Jamie Kirk I think...a DNF according to MyLaps). So as a result of the crash, they red flagged the race and we started over again but this time they cut us down to 4 laps as opposed to 6.
I got a decent start but turn 1 was extremely crowded on the outside so I had lots of traffic to contend with and it probably wasn't until well into my second lap that I finally broke free of traffic, and the remaining laps just seemed to have flown by. I was hot on the heels of an r6, which I had mistaken for Trey the whole time, but none the less I was out horsepowered out of turn 9 and he lost me in the straight, however I did manage to stay ahead of Patrick's SV and beat him out by .739 seconds. My best lap time for the day was only a 1:41.780. Not something I'm too happy about, but then again I was pretty sapped of energy from the heat all day and I guess I'm just happy not to have crashed.
Soo...good job on your 13th slot Trey and Patrick, I see you're gonna make me work to stay ahead of you. Good race guys and I'll see you next time.
