View Full Version : Movies: The Ring and Ju-On
Anyone see the Japanese version of The Ring? I liked the US remake a little better, but it was still pretty cool.
Anyway, someone sent me a link to the trailer for this other movie, Ju-On which is apparently made by some of the same people. Watch this trailer in dark, quiet room. And make sure you have the sound turned up. :D

Have not seen the Japanese version but have the Korean version on DVD. (Some say the Korean version is the best.)
Didn't see the remake.

Dude that little kid is freaky! :eek: I saw the ring, didn't scare me like it did everyone else. I did like it though, just thought it was predictable. I want to see this one, I wonder where they are going to show it with english subtitles.

I also have the Korean version of The Ring on DVD. It seems to be exactly like the Japanese version (not sure, didn't finish watching the Korean version). I just saw the US version on the plane -- story isn't as weird as the Japanese version.
So, it looks like they've remade Ju-On for the US.

The trailer looks pretty similar to the Japanese version. It's even set in Japan, and it's directed by the same guy who did the original.
The US version is directed by Sam Raimi....cool. So, this Japanese director has some kind of fetish for pale-skinned monster-looking women with bad hair.

I haven't seen either, the Ring looked stupid to me, but I've heard it was rather good, but then again I dont like scary movies, so I still may not like it.:confused:
The Ring was good. I prefer the Japanese version though. An interesting twist to the usual hack and slash teen chainsaw stabbing-type horror movies out there.

they were ok..i fell asleep during the japanese version ahha..anyone see previews of that new movie THE GRUDGE...it starts sarah michelle gellar...that looks like it'll rival the ring, i wanna go see it

Yeah, saw the preview. Looks good. It's directed by the same guy who did The Ring. I think.

Nah, the US version of Ju-On/The Grudge is directed by Takashi Shimizu and produced by Taka Ichise, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert.

my gf was tramautized by watching the ring...i had to sleep over for 2 weeks straight and we covered her TV with a blanket everynight....im not taking her to see the grudge
