I uploaded some pics of my latest project. It is a solo tail that INCREASES the storage instead of eliminating it. This is just the plug for the final mould but you get the idea. There will be locking lid in the top that fits flush and allows easy access to the storage compartment.

here's a side view.....

Looks good! Will the stock seat be used? This will work with your undertail, right?

The stock rider seat is used. The passenger stuff is all gone(permanently from mine) but can be put back on if you feel the need.

This tail will require that you get rid of that useless evap canister that mounts in the left side of the tail. That thing makes it impossible to get a one-piece tail section onto the bike.

And yes, it works perfectly fine with my undertail. :D Already test fitted it with an undertail in there.

punk,

I am not sure.... I am not even sure if I will be selling these things. Depends on how much of a pain in the ass it turns out to be. These will be hand laid fiberglass and it will be time consuming to set up the tails with trunk lids and all. I'll let everyone know after I finish my first one.

It looks better than your stock tail.

You know damn well I could slap a Harley tail on there and it would better than *MY* stock tail... hehehe ;)

I take it you don't like the new tail?

Gregg,

What material do you use to make that plug? I've been wanting to learn some body work skills for bikes for a bit now.

I used my secret sauce..... :D

really though, it started as a cracked up tail section from ebay. Add some foam and some bondo and you have all you need for the plug.

I'll be posting somemore pics where I have the paint finished. I just finished clear coating the whole thing. After I sand and polish the finish I'll post some more photos. Probably Wednesday or Thursday night.

Burst, How much storage will there be? Is it lockable? I have a Humpback tailpack, which looks as good or better than most, but still not good. I don't like tank bags either. Yours looks nice!

Greg,
I don't know that I'll actually be selling these. It is looking more and more like this thing is going to be quite the project. I may offer just the solo tail(no lid for accessing storage space) I do not think I can do it and offer it for a reasonable price. That was my whole theory behind the undertails. Offer a better product for a better price. If I can't do that on the solo tails then I they won't be for sale.
