Well, my race weekend ended pretty much summed up in one word...OUCH!:(

I raced in three classes, Race 4 550SB, Race 10 FormTwins LW, and the usual (for me) Race 14, Formula 50.

First race I finished ninth. Got a pretty good start and stayed with the fast runners for a while then it was just set the cruise and don't do anything stupid. I saw Kurt'sSV later and told him I'm glad he won that race cuz it took the pressure off me. LOL:p

Second race I got a good start and then I received the bonehead award for the day. I had been measuring my fuel so I knew just exactly how much I needed for each race. Apparently I mismeasured the load for race 10 cuz I ran out of gas in the middle of T8 On the way to the checkered. So I went from 7th to DNF in a few easy steps. What a bonehead.

OK so I recovered from that screw-up and got ready for the Formula 50 race. I got a great start, and ran for a coupla laps till I hig-sided between T4b and T5. I can't really figure out what exactly happened except; I felt and saw the front wheel tuck, saved that, then the rear wheel started to come around and caught some traction. Then there I was sailing through the air thinking this is gonna hurt. It did and still does.

Here's the damage to me: I have bruises in the palms of both hands, coupla minor fractures to my left pinky and my right knuckle. The ulna in my right arm is broken about two inches from the wrist. I had surgery on Thursday and that is fixed with a plate and a coupla screws. My hands (wrists) hurt like hell but are getting better everyday.

Matilda wasn't hurt too badly. Upper fairing is broken and cracked and the front brake master cylinder and lever are destroyed. The bike is with Andy Palmer at West Coast GP Cycles getting repaired.

I think overall I am very lucky I didn't get hurt more and very thankful I wasn't. Hoping to have me and Matilda ready for next month.

I had a great weekend overall and many thanks go to TrackDaz and Dunlop. The Suomy helmet saved my punkin' head and the NJK leathers protected me from any serious injury. Amazing that my hands hurt so much and my Spidi gloves hardly have any damage. Thanks to Andy and West Coast GP Cycles, for taking care of Matilda.

One last comment: When the ambulance arrived on the scene inside T4b, they asked me where I hurt? I said "Everywhere!" Their answer was "That's normal".:D

OK, that was funny ... Glad you're not too banged up. I had a ball racing with you ...

Sorry about your crash Charlie, hope you get back out there ASAP. There's a pretty good pavement transition coming out of 4b into 5 and it seems like people are having more trouble with it now. Maybe do a track walk and see what the pavement looks like so that you can plan out your lines? I know I haven't walked the track in a while and probably should.

You going to pull some brant Wiwi moves and cut the cast off early in order to race?

Yeah, crashing like that can hurt. Glad you're not hurt worse.

Wondered what happened to you in the F-twins race as I saw you peddling your bike back toward the pits when I was coming in after the cool-off lap.

Hey, even the best of us have run out of gas on the track. ;)
