I don't want to sound like a party pooper, but some people's avatars are showing too much. I don't mind looking a naked women but I can't do it at work..... I like to view the postings when I am at work but it seems like I'm always looking over my shoulder to see if anyone is looking. Not to mention we have several women that read this as well. So this is what I am asking, if nudity must be posted, please put in a new topic of discussion with a warning that nudity is present.
Everyone is entitled to their own Avatar and I don't want to make anyone mad by this posting. Thanks for your time and wish all of you safe riding.

that was weird, I don't think any of the threads were too off the beatin path of motorcycles or the sv for that. Plus Paul gave him the suggestion of turning off the avatars so that he doesn't get into trouble. I don't think that the people with avatars of women "dancing" , and I use that term loosely, don't have respect for women. What they have isn't even considered pornographic. There is no nudity or hardcore material there. There was on site that I think crashgirl put up that was her friend's site, but she even warned the reader that is was porn. AND it was posted by a woman! Phone Man I think you took offense alittle to easy. This is a great site with great people you really should just turn your avatars off (I understand they worry you at work, it would worry me too. Only because it suggests porn, not that it is porn and people might get the wrong idea.) and stick it out, go on some rides with us. It is great!. I do think that the avatars aren't bike related, but they are an expression of someone and I find them humorous.

I just find it alittle strange that you think that they are tasteless, but yet you clearly leave an adult link on a website dedicated to motorcycles and the motorcycle life. Isn't that what you were speaking against? I don't get, but maybe I missed something...

Well, I can honestly say that if Phoneman is that easily upset by a little fun then he need not spend time around this group. You can't take stuff so seriously. We are a fun group and the regulars here are fairly close knit. Which I think tends to make people more comfortable and forget that there is a whole world out there watching everything that goes on here.

If they are offended then they have the choice to not look. I personally do not find anything about this site offensive. Take a look at the image and pics that other sportbike sites portray. If you want to hang out with bikers then get used to it. As far as that aspect of the motorcycling world goes, we are probably one of the more tame groups out there.

Avatars are meant to be amusing. dnakase's bouncing avatar, while not all together *classy*, was quite amusing. There is an option to turn off avatars if you don't want to see them. I REALLY do not think we should start telling people what they can and cannot put up on the boards. None of the avatars were showing nudity and any nudity that is on this site is in the appropriate forums.

not to be rude..... but for his 8th post this guy comes in here trying to tell us how to do things. This board has done quite well as it is and will continue to do well.. as it is. He simply could have turned off the avatars in his user options and did not. His loss because this is one of the best groups of riders I have encountered.(as far as the social/camaraderie aspect, cause everyone knows if you ride an SV you can't ride.... hehe :rolleyes: )

Since I've been on this board, I've yet to see something that I consider "tasteless." Having said that, I can totally see how some of the stuff the fella's post might make some of the ladies shake their heads and say "stupid boys...."

Myself? I'm married, I have two daughters, love my wife, would walk through fire -- hell, STAND in fire -- for my babies, and would pound ass on any punk-ass-bitch who openly disrespected a woman. BUT, this is also a board hosted in the greatest country on the planet, where free speech, free expression, and free choice has become something taken for granted.

The female form is a work of art -- in any shape or size. I hope the ladies here think the same about the male form. I dunno. I NEVER EVER EVER thought about what goes on here as even close to some of the sick ass stuff that can be found on the general Internet.

Call me a primadona, or a clueless a-hole, but I'm happy with the way this board works. Heck, I even cruise through the beef-cake section (not updated since 1-24-03) out of curiosity (reference wife and daughters! :p ). I'm intrigued...dare I say interested in what makes girls tick. I like ersigh's perspective. She give's her opinion on a lot of the "porn" that gets posted here....some I agree with; some I just shake my head and say "L...that's why guys are guys and gals are gals." Bottom line is that I like to hear her point of view (and Guzzigirl's and Sandie's and Brett's and Crashgirl's)

But, she isn't afraid to voice her opinion. For the record, Travis, I'm not trying to discount your opinion. It's yours and it's valid. I just don't agree. I make sure my monitor is turned away from the hall. 90% of the stuff that is posted here is related to motorcycles. My suggestion to you is to avoid that other 10%.

Some of us push the limits, yes. I'd say that we do it more in posts than in Avatars. I'd rather have my limits pushed than my sensitivities catered too...

MrPython' s :finger: may have been a bit rude, but you have to consider that a very new member(you) to the board has come in and basically said that we have no class and should change the way we do things. I find that equally as rude, especially when the one preaching about having class, is so quick to lash out at people when they don't agree with the opinion they have stated.

You are welcome to hangout out around the site and meet up with us for rides, but please(this goes for everyone) do not start bashing people because they do not agree with you. Your point is understood and you have three options. 1-Stay and take in all that is here, 2-turn off the avatars and 3-stick around or leave and never look back. It is completely up to you. I think if you stick around you WILL find that this really is a great group of people.

This is one of the tamest motorcycle boards I have found. I joined because after lurking while I was trying to decide which bike to buy I decided that I had some things in common with the membership of the board. I may not ride an SV, but I live in SoCal, ride regularly and responsibly, would like to meet people to ride with, and like to talk about bikes and the good things in life like pretty women, burgers and donuts.

What this board doesn't have is a bunch of posers and "stunaz" who own motorcycles for the sole purpose of getting women, people who sprinkle foul language indisriminately throughout their posts and flame everyone who thinks slightly different from them.

When the first few avatars popped up being less personality orientated and more nekkid girl orientated, I thought about commenting about it, but decided to leave it alone ... since I know people are generally waiting for my opinions on things as if I'm the evil mother who doesn't like anything except chocolate. And if I said anything, I'd just be labeled and prude or whatever ... and well ... I get tired of people's general dismissiveness to opinions and perspectives I don't think most people ever put the effort into thinking about.

My reasoning for feeling bothered by the avatars is because one of the things I like(d) about this forum, is that in the beginning, action was taken to make it a comfortable place for both genders. Most forums are revolve around the male perspective ... this forum is generally much more mature, with a more enjoyable form of humor that is very welcoming to new users ... irregardless of gender.

By creating a seperate area for female and male pictures of sexual nature, that gave the users freedom to express that aspect of themselves (WOOWOO!! LOOK AT THE TITTIES!!) without making anyone else, who may not appriciate such things, uncomfortable. I tend to feel having avatars that are the same or even worse than most pix put into the Hot Chick area is a contradiction of sorts.

I enjoy the variety within the avatars. This is something that is much more diverse on BARF because there are so many users, however, there they tend to have a LOT more of the nekkid female type avatars as well ... and I feel that the mentality that supports this being alright, is reflected in how the female riders are generally treated. They are constantly flirted with and very rarely do the females take part in any of the indepth riding conversations (even tho' some of them are very fast).

I feel that avatars are there to represent us as the people we are ... with humor or whatever ... I don't see how avatars of nekkid females is anything but an attention getting ploy.

I don't know why, but saying "If you don't like it, turn off avatar viewing" just seems rude. It's an obvious statement and makes sense logically ... but *I* don't want to turn off avatars ... with the exception of the few stupid avatars with stupid pix of chicks, I like the avatars and often find myself more amused or entertained by them than the posts.

I do take the typical prudish stance that I feel it is disrespectful to women, specifically on the board. I think most female members will not complain because they are used to it and have come to expect it from guys ... it's how we are brought up after all.

Maybe I am resistent to change and holding onto an idea that this forum was better than the rest ... if people want to use those avatars, I will not tell them not to. It is simply my preference that they don't ...

If it matters any, I thought the one with the chicks dancing and boobies bouncing was funny ... it just felt inappropriate for the enviroment.
