Movie: Eragon

Don't go see this movie. It's not worth the time or money.

I had read the book so knew it to be a Star Wars ripoff, but the movie basically strips away everything that kept the book from being plagiarism, and thus fails to stay interesting. The guys who were supposed to be orcs look like the same biker bar ruffians who have populated every fantasy TV show since Hercules. The makeup department couldn't even afford pointy ears for their elf. The dragon is all right but suffers from a deadpan voice, and the usual Gumby wings. FX are ok but transition from FX shot to non-FX shot is pretty jarring.

Movie was terrible.

And I *LIKE* stupid sword/elf/dragon movie.

I want to read the books now, to see if it was the books that sucked so bad, or if it was just the movie.

Query: If you could communicate telepathically with your dragon, and can see through her eyes by speaking a magic spell....why the fcuk do you need to even ride the damn thing? Couldn't you just give it commands from a distance and keep yourself safe? I mean, seeing as how the rider is the weakest link and all.

The book is 1000 times better. It is just the movie that is a piece of garbage. The book spans 6 months in what the movie did in a few days.

As I understand it the only reason the books got published in the first place is because the author's parent's owned the publishing company or some other such thing and it's a total lord of the rings rip off combined with other fantasy elements.

I was gonna go see this movie yesterday i'm so glad that Nat and I decided to pass it up and go home and watch Dexter instead ;)
