From what I've read on the main SV message board, people that own it are happy with it. Check out this thread:

and have been happy with it. Good sound, only loud when you get on it, otherwise fairly subtle not obnoxious. Ducati-ish sound. I did not lose much MPG with it as you can with a full system. Good quality, price, does not require full rejetting as some others do. Call Dale at Holeshot and talk to him about it......he answered all my questions honestly, etc. Also, a bit more responsive:D

anyone have experience or thoughts on the Holeshot exhaust?

I have seen and heard several pipes. From Yoshi, to Micron. My decision was based on sound vs quality vs maintenance vs price.
and I got a scorpion pipe. I wanted platninum, but got a chrome one for $237. I wanted one that I wouldnt have to repack after so many miles and I like the oval look, plus the sound is juicy "as I put it".

i got a holeshot slip on ebay. figured it was a good idea since i had already shimmed the carbs. anyway i hacked off the stock can, then found that i couldn't mount the slip on. seems i'm missing the slip on part of the slip on. am i missing a little s/connector pipe??? i have a the holeshot can, strap for mounting to passenger peg, and a clamp. thats it. even if the can would slip on, it'd be sticking off the side of the bike at the same angle as the header pipe. am I missing something?
so currently its psuedo mounted with the can touching against the headers, then i used some sheet metal and hose clamps to close off the small gap between can and header. there's only a little exhaust leak, not bad for a blatant ghetto solution. bike runs great, sounds beautiful, just need to find out about whatever part i'm missing. thanks for the advice...
Sounds like you're missing the mid-pipe. Did the seller not include details of this in his auction, or did he just forget to send it to you?
Here's what it should look like: Very bottom of http://www.sv650.org/sv_nov01.htm and http://www.socalsvriders.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2185

Thanks, I think your right, the mid pipe is missing. those links were a huge help.
the auction included the entire pipe. since i didn't feel like replacing the headers, I said just send me "the can and all mounting hardware". so i'm still waiting to hear back from the seller. worst case scenario, i'll have to buy the mid pipe from holeshot. at this point, i'm just happy I got it back together and can ride/get to work.
overall impression of the pipe. beautiful. nice response (even w/ slight exhaust leak) and sounds the most ducati like of the pipes i've heard. highly recomended. made me feel really good about the decision when i could feel the weight of the stock can.

I recently purchased a less than mint condition SVS. came w/ a holeshot highmount (i think it's a slipon but not sure). the hanger seems to be either pulling down on the subframe or the subframe is tweaked. anyone know if the high mount hangers are supposed to be this tight? uhh...i don't have a pic but the hanger is attached to the 1 of the lower bars of the subframe. i guess where the bungee cords would wrap around.

holeshot is a slip-on and a pretty good one for that. the hanger is attached to the lower part of your subframe. the hanger shouldnt that tight if it is bendind things. should just be snug enough that its holding the exhaust in place.

i have that holeshot high mount slip on and im highly pleased with it. and it shouldn't bend anything, let alone something that is as stiff as your sub-frame. think about it, that fame supports the weight of two human bodies. how much stress could a thin walled metal tube actually exert on that mount ?

guess my subframe is tweaked cause it's definitely tilted down on the right side. :-s

i have a holeshot high mount pipe and its making a strange noise. when you rev it up, it make a kind of flappy-popping sound. thats about the best i can describe it. im not sure if it was there all along and i just never noticed it or if it just popped up, but its bothering me for some reason.
could that be caused by anything other than the pipe? and if it is the pipe, do holeshot pipes need to be repacked? i didnt think they did, but why else would it just start making that noise out of nowhere.
any guesses ?

Sound like it'sjust back firing. Did you install, professional install, or did you by the bike used with the Holeshot installed? If you installed, did you shim the needles and adjust your pilots? My Holeshot backfires as well, but only when I chop the gas at mid-range rpm's.
shouldn't be a problem other then the noise. might effect you packing, but repacking is a no brainer when you need to do it.

i got it used with the pipe on it and i met the guy that owned it before me, it was done buy a pro and the needles where shimmed.
i dont think the sound is really a backfire. those have a cracking sound of the unburnt fuel igniting, this is just a flappy sound at higher RPMs and it dose it no matter which way i accelerate. kinda like there a little chunk of plastic over the end of the pipe. but there isnt of course, im not that stupid.:D
i just got a new camera, ill try and post a video of it soon.

I've sent a few emails to Holeshot lately with questions and comments about their exhausts -
Let me just say Dale is one hell of a guy. He's answered my emails with perfect clarity and on the same day. I couldn't wish for any better customer service.
If you're looking for an exhaust (and tons of other accessorires - see below), I encourage you to check out his site: www.holeshot.com.
Check Dale's site out for these products:
Exhaust - Standard and High Mount
Suspension Upgrades - Progressive Parts, Galfer Lines, adjustable dogbones
Touring Parts - "Bar Snake"
Street Fighter Parts
Holeshot Power Shifter
Detailing/Maintenance
Tools
I'm very impressed with his customer service, so I have to put my nod in towards him. Soon, you should see one of his exhausts show up on my bike :D

I have a holeshot high-mount installed on my 03 SVS and notice a definite burble on decel and am curious if anyone else experiences the same? I don't think its backfiring, but it gets quite loud!

Yes, the "burble" is there on my pipe as well. Some things that can cause this:
1. Not using sealer on exhaust joints
2. Jetting/Mapping
3. Engine defects/malfunctions
Make sure you sealed the exhaust joints. If you still get the burble, try remapping your ECU.

I have just purchased some sealant and will give that a try. Have you remapped your ECU? Do you plan on purchasing a power commander?
I have just recieved an email from Dale @ Holeshot. He says that the pipe will do this and that its caused by a slightly lean conditon in the low rpm range and that it will not harm the engine in any way. Hope this helps you as well Adam.

You won't need a PC to fit the Slip-On.
Here's a write-up I did after recieving my Holeshot exhaust: http://www.kuhnco.com/SV650/SV/Exhaust.htm

I finally bit the bullet and ordered a set of polished Holeshot high mounts. I bought the hi-temp silicone as well and the grand total came out to $825.14. Exhaust gets pretty damn expensive when you have to buy 2 pipes! I'll try and get some pics on here as soon as I get em put on.

I just finished installing my new Holeshot pipes on my SV1kS. There's a tiny bit of decel pop once in a while, but no biggie to me. I just can't keep myself off her now!!! :horny:
Check out some pics I took of the install and a sound clip! And don't worry about the piece that falls off in the video... it was just a bushing I forgot to pull off from where the old pipe mounted. I know, I know, it scared the crap outta me the first time I watched it, too

Anyone have any comments on the Holeshot slip-on for the 04' sv650. I really want a full system but no funds to back it up. I heard through the grapevine that the Holeshot slip-on was a good alternative to a full system. Can someone set me straight on the stock air filter vs. the K&N. Especially when paired with a slip-on or full exhaust system.

Barren77, you have made a wise choice Danielson.... Holeshot is a good slip on I have it I LOVE IT. Of course you could be like every other smuck out there and get a Yosh........ but we can't all be smucks right lolol
Great company good customer service they will answer any questions. You will notice a little pop on deceleration sometimes but not always its all good a PC is not necessary for a slip on.
K&N air filter is good do that too.....

I got the M4 exaust that the previous owner put on, it's pretty loud at all rpms, and it seems to be pretty snappy I'm happy with it, Akrapovic is a really good exaust too.

I purchased the holeshot high mount slip-on a week ago for my '06 SV650S and I love it. I have noticed the burble at low rpm's. Other than that it has good performance, and a real nice sound to it. I hope my neighbors don't hate me when I leave at the butt crack of dawn...
