Hey guys, just wanted to let everyone know that my silver 06 CBR 600RR was stolen last night 1-22-07 from my gf's apartment in Oceanside. It's just a stock CBR with a fender elimnator w/led turn signals. It only had about 2,100mi on it. Just about the only distinguishing marks on it is a crack in the left front footpeg and some scratches on the engine cover. If you see anything like this around Socal and San Diego, please let me know. I just filed a report with the Oceanside Police. Thanks guys.

Hey Matt,
Sorry to hear about your bike. I saw this on CL this morning. He is trying to trade fairings and it is in your area. Just looking out. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/mcy/267013338.html

That totally sucks man. I'll keep an eye out up here in LA. Is the insurance going to cover it at least?

Well we are waiting to see. AAA said that they wait 10 days for the bike to be found, then they will start talking to AHFC to pay out. Not sure what if any will be the difference. I'm hoping for nothing! Now I have to start thinking about what I would want to buy next. Of course It'll be something else that will be highly sought after. Maybe a Triumph 675 or the new 07 CBR's. Damit I'm still pissed!

Yeah that bike on CL has a fender eliminator as well. You can see the aftermarket turn signals drilled into the rear cowl. But you would know your bike better than I. Just thought it was a big coincedence is all.

No, that's cool. I appreciate all you guys looking out for me. I that bike does look alot like mine, but I didn't have flush mount turnsignals on my bike. At least not yet. But yeah, would be interesting to see if the left foot peg on that bike was cracked........
I'll keep an eye out.
Sorry to hear about your bike. At least you had theft coverage! =D>

Yeah man, it wouldn't hurt to report it and have some sort of authorities check it out for you....being that it is in North San Diego County and that it was posted a day after yours was stolen. The worst they can say is "Sorry. Not your bike." :dunno:

When I was a kid I had cops ask for the receipts and check out my car stereo as i got it the same time someone in town had theirs stolen (small town). If all is legit no harm no foul.

I go to school over in Vista. I can check for any "identifying" markings for you from that bike listed on Craig's List. I can give the guy a call to see the fairings in person and then check that left peg (if whomever hasn't replaced it yet) for you.
If it's been replaced, then let me know any other markings or anything else I can look for.

Well the only other markings were a few scratches on the left side engine cover, and a few small scratchs on the faring, only like 2 or 3 about 1/2" long. There was also a little rash on the bottom of the left rear view mirror.
Yes, I was a dumbass and dropped it at my house.
Well, I am currently looking around for my new bike. Not sure if I want to get the new 07 CBR, or possibly the Triumph Daytona 675. Any recomendations?

Sorry about what happened to your bike, Matt.
Did you have a disc lock or alarm on it? Or are those things useless to prevent theft?

I did have a disc lock on it, but I believe you can still cut those, Or you just pick the entire bike up and put it in a truck or van. Next time I will have an alarm, a disk lock, and a kryptonite chain on it connect to a pole cemented in the ground. Damn! Lol, still gets me pissed when I start thinking of it. Oh well, I guess I get a new bike. The guy I bought my bike from should be happy. I bought my CBR from him in November. My girl bought her SV650 from him earlier this month, and now I'll be buying another bike from him in a few weeks! Three bikes in two months.

Wow! I guess if thieves wants to steal a bike badly enough, they'll find a way. It's amazing to read on this forum that even parts of a bike (e.g., exhaust pipe, bar ends) get stolen too. Maybe an electric zapper like a Taser should be rigged on bikes so that bike owners can protect their beloved bikes from those who believe in the ten-finger discount: "Touch my bike and you're going to get the shock of your life!" That'll teach those thieves!
I believe in karma: what goes around, comes around. Those thieves will get what they deserve.
Good luck and have fun shopping for your new bike, Matt.
I told my husband about what happened to your bike. He had a similar experience years ago when his Gixxer (GSXR1100) was stolen.
He had a cable attached to the rear wheel, but not connected to a pole. Thieves must have just picked up the whole bike and put it in a truck or van.
He suspected it was another rider, riding the same type of bike, who had followed him while riding home one day. During that night or early the following morning, his bike was gone when he headed down to the garage the next morning to go to work.
His bike looked like the one in this pic, except with a black seat:

Well I was just talking to my claims guy, and AAA doesn't offer GAP coverage on motorcycles. Just from a little calculating, it looks like I am going to be in the hole about $2,000 or so for this bike. It was only two months old and had less then 2,000 miles on it. Damit! Guess my new bike will have to wait a while till I pay this off.

Normally GAP insurance is purchased when you by the bike from the dealer...

uggggh... sorry dude. I had my first 05 R6 stolen after just 3 weeks so I know how you feel. Just remember to haggle w/ AAA if the offer is not what you think it should be, although depreciation is a beeyotch on a new bike. I ended up about $1500 in the hole I think. When my offer came back lower than I thought it should, the adjuster was cool and offered to have a 3rd party appraiser re-do the estimate.

I feel your pain man. My bike just got stolen yesterday :-(
I'm going to have to wait till I can pay off my current loan as well before I can get a new bike.
Heres to hoping bike thiefs get a special place in hell!

Well with regard to the GAP insurance, that was my fault for not looking into it more with my insurance. I thought I had that on my car and bike with AAA. My fault for not looking into it more. So on my next bike I will have to just fork out the money for gap. Damn. Also, just spoke with a person over at American Honda Finance today and they told me that after AAA pays them and they are clear, that I have 30 days to pay up on the account and make it even. Which it looks like to me I have 30 days to come up with $1500. Damit

Thats fucked. I mean if you are in good standing they should let you just keep making payments. I sure hope I dont run into the same thing on my end.

Well i should find out next Friday. I actually went looking at bikes tonight. Might wait till the end of next month and get the new 07 CBR600RR, or maybe the GSXR750. The GSXR is just so small and tight on me. I'm 6'1" and it's all in my legs, and I am just so cramped on the GSXR. I actually sat down on a new 07 R1, and that fit me juuuuuuuust right :D
