Sometimes the gods smile, the clouds open up, the sun shines through, and roadracing is FUN. That pretty much sums up my race report.
Friday morning, lap one, turn one, I knew it was going to be a great weekend. My SV was running on it's last leg, waiting for a new motor next month, but I felt good on the bike and just hoped it would hold together for the weekend.
Sunday morning opened with BOTT middleweight for practice, and Chris Rogers and I had a ball dicing with the Ducatis and Buells and getting our wheels under us for 550 superbike. Due to a protest of passing under waving yellow at start finish in front of God and Jeff Rheume, I ended up 3rd, Chris 4th.
550 superbike opened with a great drive into 1 around Kurt, and when I made the turn I felt my tailsection hit 'something' (sorry Kurt) but I had already dropped the hammer, and didn't look back. I was running well when my bike stalled in 3 and I couldn't get restarted till the last lap, and took my 2 points.
Formula Twins Lightweight was next, and I felt compelled to win back some of the 3 grand we put up at the shop to sponsor the class so I went hard from the start. Rogers and I both pulled monster wheelies down the front straight at the start and I drove around everybody into 1. By the 3rd lap I was mixing into Formula 2 riders and had some fun taking the 600s to school where I could.
At the end of the day, I had more FUN riding than I had had in over a year, won some of my money back and rubbed paint with some of my friends. How can you top that!
Thanks to West Coast GP Cycles, SOCALSVRIDERS.org, Dunlop, GP Suspension, Driven Spockets, Attack Bodywork, Suomy, Sunoco Fuel, and my girlfriend Karen:love:
