First off I live in north Phoenix(25th ave and greenway) not cali so this is mainly to vent.

I got home yesterday from work and my blue 2004 sv650s was gone :-(

My apartment complex didn't do it nor did the bank. I called the cops and my insurance. Got to wait a few weeks to see if the bike gets returns.

I spoke to some of my neighbors and the bike was there at 5am and was gone by 9am.

so sad so sad.

The bike has been droped a couple of time so it has scratches on the can and both sides of front faring. Bolt with nuts works as shifter. Frame sliders with blue arror blinkers on front. Blue fender hugger/chaing gaurd.

Still got an FE, new grips and new bar ends sitting in my living room that I was too lazy to add.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that your bike's gone too.

One of the other members got his bike stolen a few days ago too, but in San Diego. Here's the thread in case you didn't read it: http://www.socalsvriders.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=332406#post332406

That sucks that you still had some parts to put on it too.

Damn those bike thieves!

What kind of dumb shit steals an SV...seriously....

I'll keep an eye out to see if someone is suddenly parting out an sv in the area, but chances are your about to get a new bike.

BTW wtf were you not riding your bike to work. GEeze..all your fault

bharbou
Thu 1/25/07, 10:51AM
I totally agree about stealing an SV. I figure they either were drugged out or they wanted parts for their bike.

And as far as not riding my bike, your right, its all my fault. In fact I should have just left the keys in it :D

Well hopefully I wont be upside down much.

Thu 1/25/07, 11:14AM

My hubby did this with my bike on Tuesday. (He's been riding my bike to work while his is in the shop.) It wasn't until he got off work and couldn't find the key that he realized it was still on the bike. He is so damn lucky that my bike was still in the parking garage, not just because the bike was still there, but because if it was gone, I would have killed him for giving away MY bike for free! Especially after reading about what happened to you and Matt (mkleist).

A friend of mine did that at my work. Drained his battery :( but at least he still had his bike ;)

Sorry to hear about your bike. I have left my key in the bike a few times while it was parked on the street all night long. Good thing I always have a cover on it. I hate doing that.

Good luck on getting it back. The KBB is $4,500 for your bike. You should be covered for the $3,600 you owe.

$4500 is for what a dealer will charge. I hope my insurance goes off that and not the $3200 bucks i would get as a trade in at a dealership

Just pray it doesn't get found hope for $4500, pay off, put $1000 down on your new bike :)

They go by Kelly blue book retail usually, about $4500. You should get about 80% $3600. As far as you were concerned the bike was pristine.;)

Well I got a call last night from the police.

The bike was recovered. They have the rider, I guess he was hurt and could not leave. They said he hit a curb and went flying.

The police said the bike could not be ridden so they had it towed. I'm going to head down to the tow place after work today to see if its totaled.

Forgot the camera at home(I know shame on me) but I just got back from the tow yard and the bike is pretty bad off. I hope they total it out. Looks like the guy hit the curb pretty straight on and the bike flipped end over end.

Front rim looks banged up(probably repairable), both forks are bent(bad but not broke). All the plastics are trashed, tank is trashed, radiator is trashed, exhaust can it trashed, brake rearset is trashed, front seat is ripped and rear seat has road rash on it and the frame has a few scratches on it.

Pretty sure the swing arm, rear wheel, frame and engine are good.

GOD I HOPE THEY TOTAL IT!

And the fucking retard used different color sharpies and colored all over the damn bike and put like 4 stickers on it :-(

What insurance company is it? If they total it I'd like to know I could use some parts of it asap :)

Well good on the idiot for crashing it. Yey new bike; was it paid off?? If not do you have GAP?

bharbou
Mon 1/29/07, 2:22PM
no on both parts :-(

I owe $3,600 on it and they said they use nada.com not kbb.com so its valued at like 4200. So if they give me full price minus my $500 deductible I should be ok. When I add the few add-ons I have into the mix I should at least come out even if not a little ahead.

Is it that easy to get a bike going without a key?? Scary...

All a key does is turn the ignition without using much force. Bust the tumbler (not hard to do) and turning the ignition is easy. If you have the right tool you can take bike easy enough.

Glad they found it....hope that fucker gets what he deserves in the slammer...you know what I'm talking about...

With forks, tank, plastics and radiator busted, there is a good chance they'll total it...that right there is close to 3500 bucks in parts alone, not to mention labor.....

Hope you get what you need for it to be able to go bike shopping!

Glad to hear you found out what happened to your bike. Hope that guy who stole it recovers miserably from his injuries while he does jail time. What goes around comes around.

Good luck dealing with your insurance and shopping for a new bike!

Little update.

Dealer said $7,000 is parts, $1,500 in labor and $500 in taxes for a total of 9k to fix 04 sv650s.

I about died laughing when he told me how much. So the insurance is going to total it, just got to fight with them on how much for.

Question I now have is how much should i be willing to pay to buy it back and fix it up as a track bike.

Basically i could get it working with an entire front end, radiator and exhaust. A lot of other minor stuff like rear brake pedal, peg and a ton of cosmetic shit.

Well the Insurance totaled it out of course.

I didn't realize all the little crap i had bought for the bike, it added up to 700 bucks.

They offered me 5k for the bike. 4500 after the deductible. 3600 went to the bank and 900 goes in my pocket.

I asked about the buy back and they wanted 1500 bucks for it. I laughed and said no you can keep it.

Oh, along with Centerline, Setter, and LowSpdWobble, I hate you too bharbou :D

There's more than one reason to loathe you - its even the color I want !

LoJack that thing or something ... otherwise I might have to, um, "borrow" it for a while. I'm getting pretty pissed off over these stories where an SV meets some horrible fate, and the owner gets a new GSXR-750

ALL thieves suck !
