Have the laws changed on fix-it tickets? I heard that only CHP and Sheriff can sign off on a ticket? I thought that any peace officer can sign off on the ticket. I got one yesterday at Bolsa Chica State Beach for license plate placement. Could of gotten me for blinkers, exhaust,SPEEDING but he only gave me a warning on the speed. He ask me how fast I was going. I said about 70. Being honest and having all paperwork zip locked neatly under the seat helps.

Anyways, if anyone got a fix-it ticket recently did CHP or sheriff have to sign off on it? Thanks

I've received about 7-8 fix it tickets and I always just take mine to the CHP since they don't charge... like the sheriff. Plus most of the time they don't even really check out your bike... at least for me, but thats probably cause they know me already..

I got a fix it ticket for the front blinkers from Newport Beach Police in November, and had it signed off by a Huntington Beach cop about two weeks ago.

I think it depends on who gives you the ticket. Like, if CHP gives you the ticket, CHP has to sign it off? Anyways, I got a fix it ticket once by my local police department and just had one of the officers sign it off. Actually, it happened to be the same cop.

no matter where you get a fix-it ticket - any filthy cop can sign it off in the same state. i have a San Bernardino county sheriffs officer sign off all my tickets, no matter who gives them to me.

The following agencies have cited me at one time or another, including but not necessarily limited to:

Hunt. Bch. Police
Apple Valley Police
San Bernadino County Sheriffs
Orange County Sheriffs
CHP
LA County Sheriff
LAPD
Long Beach PD
California State Police

all signed off by one of San Bernardino County's finest and best looking cops.

I use to have my old neigbor sign off my tickets and he was a desk jockey. Best part is I never had to get them fixed. I miss my old neigborhood =(
