Here's something ironic, Jack Lilley, and a couple other Brit parts shops, sell a double down to single headlamp convertion kit for the Speed Triple.
Now why whould anyone what to do that  ? Makes it look a little like a fat SV...

called up the Lad at the shop in england - they prices are as follows.
the twin chrome headlights are approx 120 dollars in chrome or matt black and 135 dollars in carbon look, shipping would be approx 25 dollars, these prices are approximate because of the exchange rate when their credit card machine does the transaction. They also do the same style of headlights in single units bottom mounted.
Im ALL OVER that in the chrome-style....

I have some dual headlights that came from overseas - Buster's Accessories in the UK. They use the stock headlight brackets (First and second gen SV's) and use the stock wiring harness. You don't need to do any modifications. They were $128 shipped.

i just went and got a set of round driving lamps that are meant to mount in the bumper of a car. i had to do a bit of custom wiring. but i kept the OEM brackets and i think it looks kinda good. they have a chromed body instead of black like in that last picture. but i guess you could paint them if you really wanted to.
to top it all off, the lights are bright as all hell, and were only like $25. the only downside i have found is that there is no high/low beam. its just like having high beams on all the time. which i guess really isnt a bad thing on a bike...............

I actually just installed mine this weekend. I orginally posted the details on SVRider.com. You can find alot of additional info there too.
These lights have been sitting in my garage for weeks b/c I hadn't found any way to properly deal with the gaggle-fook of wiring that was originally housed in the single headlamp. After lots of research and scouring almost every friggin' hardware store in the Bay Area for the right "Project Box" (finally found it at good ol' Radio Shack--should have just gone there in the first place) I finally was able to get my act together.
Parts list:
1) Dual headlight kit from Buster's Accessories (UK). About $120 shipped
2) Project Box at Radio Shack
3) Drill and 1 and 1/4" hole bit (To make the holes to route the wiring into the project box)
4) Lots of electrical tape
5) Couple of trips to the hardware store for screws and washers
6) One cold, poorly lit and dirty ass garage to work in
Anyways onto the pics--here is what she originally looked like...

i think those buster lights are kinda cool. but they stick out too far. i wasnt Happy with how far out my lights were either. so i drilled new hole and mounted them back further. i have also been thinking abut putting a set of rubber washers in between the light and the mount. havent gotten around to it yet though. hell, i havent even ridden my bike in like 4 months :(
btw here are some pics. i forgot that i had these lying around on my hard drive.
ignore the rusted bolt. i just grabbed a random allen head blot at a hardware store and didnt even think about the fact that it would be outside.
make sure that you get corrosion resistant hardware when you put anything on your bike ........

I'd like to change the single front headlight to 2 smaller, more powerful headlamps, i've seen it on a few bikes, but can't figure out what/where to get it.
I was thinking about just getting some PIAA lights and straping them to the front - bad idea?

I've been wanting to do the same thing to my 03. You can get the Buell set-up for about $135 including the mounting brackets.
Or a salvage yard probably has them for half. But I wouldn't want the Buell's bugscreen, I don't think...
If I could find a bugscreen that looked good like the one on the Moto Guzzi Furia, I'd do it. Not sure it's steep enough to clear the '03 instrument thingy.

I'm sure the PIAA's could be made to work without too much problem; pretty pricey, though.

any info on putting dual headlights on a naked sv. for example, a acerbis cyclope dual headlight set. do you need to use a s model harness, or do you, somehow, splice into the existing harness for the second headlight?
thanks for any info,

I have read about someone using these dual headlights on their 03 SV and you use the stock wireharness and stock headlight bracket. (I don't know first hand, yet)
http://www.busters-online.co.uk/Busters.htm (part no. THL), they're shown in chrome but also come in black and carbon.

The clip ons on our naked SV are stock GSXR units, as it has a complete GSXR front end. Headlights are fron germany, unfortunately The company is out of business and we cant find them anywhere else.

Howdy I was wondering if anyone has swapped out thier stock single headlamp on thier 03+ sv650(naked) for a duel projector setup maybe something like the buell xb9, i am planning to do this but would love to hear anyone's experience to learn from any obstacles they may have run into, thanks

No real obstacles at all. I swapped out mine for 2 projectors I bought from an auto parts store. I just had to fabricate a custom bracket for mounting them. Made it out of aluminum. I will try to get a picture posted this evening. I get a lot of compliments on the setup.

I just finished a prototype kit for duallights on a naked that will cost under $50 ....the fab and monting is done...lights are lit just working on a relay so you can have one for low and both on high...... unfortunatly electrical is my weakness...should have pics up in my abum by tommorrow ....
This kit will be bolt on, plug and play.....

Hey, the one light for low and both lights for high beam isn't all that cool looking. you should just use dual filament bulbs for both lights and have them both on for high and low. That would be cooler. Um. But yeah, I guess it's your product so you can do whatever you like, but as a consumer, having both lights on was one of the main things I was looking at when I was looking at dual headlights.
That said, for under 50 bucks, I'd totally consider buying one and "beta test" it for you.

I love seeing what people do to their bikes and mking the bikes "their own" but me personally, I don't like the dual headlight look on the SV. Just not my style. If you do the project, please post some pics!

it's the legal deal I have to meet....because both lights are 50 watts each, that would be 100 watts which isn't to bright but the bike only puts out so much wattage and don't want to screw up the bike...my stuff is not just for looks, it's got a be safe and work.... I have to see what I can find for the dual filament deal....these lights are not designed for that...they use a specail bullb and not much variety with that..I'll keep everyone up to date...

I bought my dual headlight setup from an ebayer. Since then I have had problems with keeping a fresh battery. The problem could be a result of an alternator magnet that was glued back into place. The magnet popped off when removing the alternator disk. I was hoping a glue job was all that was needed, maybe its coming back to haunt me.
My question is for those that have dualheadlights already, have you had any battery problems since? Im guessing 2 x 55/60 watt bulbs as opposed to the stock single maybe a bit of a strain on the charging system.
i have some pics on my site...

had no problems with mine...the svs uses two 55/60 watt lights so it should be able to fire them....Currently I run a triple head light system..so far so good...

I was in the middle of looking for a replacement bulb for my 1st gen sv. There are a lot of deer where I ride. I try not to ride at night but when I do I would like something a little brighter. Do any of these dual lights work better then the single one? Or would I be better off just looking for a brighter bulb?

The SVS uses two 55 watt bulbs. As long as you're not using those 100 watt bulbs your okay. While the bike is running the lighting does not drain the battery. However, the wiring is too thin to support two 100 watt bulbs. Eventually the insulation will become brittle from the heat and you will get a short circuit.\
Let's hope the SV has the same gage wirings as the SVS.

would try a silverstar bulb... pretty bright and cheap...not pure white but a good shade ...I use it with my double driving lights ...so I have the main single light 55/60w and two 50 watt driving lights ....plenty of light for us night blind peeps..the silverstar works really well at night....

I replaced my stock 55/60 with a 55/100 and it works great. The SVS runs two 55/60's so on high beam they have 120 watts so i figure my wiring should handle 100 watts without any trouble. The extra light makes a big difference back in the hills and canyons.

I have been running a dual headlight setup for a while with the stock wiring/harness. I also have an automotive temperature gauge running off the high beam line (sloppy, I know, but it doesn't draw that much power). The high beams would always flicker in proportion to engine speed and also with the turn signal. Also, the temp gauge needle would bounce around quite a bit (I though that this was in part due to extra motorcycle vibration, but not true).
While adding some heated grips today, went probing around with my voltmeter and noticed a decent amount of positive and negative line drop at the harness - negative was at around 0.5V, positive about 1V lower than battery level. Contacts weren't dirty or anything, but I did notice that the high beam line was skinny and has a really long path (no relay).
I decided to run a separate positive and negative lines straight from the battery. The lines are 12 gauge, fused, and go into a relay prior to giving power to the dual headlights, heated grips, and temp gauge. All lines are soldered. The relay turns on with the high beams (again, sloppy, I know - need another relay to turn on temp gauge and grips with IGN).
The headlights are brighter and the temp gauge needle is solid. Engine speed and turn signal have no effect (thanks to dedicated power lines). I'm running Silverstar bulbs, btw. I think the stock wiring is okay for 1 bulb, and still alright for 2 lights. Some noticeable improvement, however, can be had with a relay and fat power lines.
(the Enduro Engineering heated grips available at Cycle Gear are a disappointing so far, btw)

They draw roughly the same amount of power as the Enduro's. Hopefully they are more efficient in delivering heat to my hands - for $30, I'll give them a stab. I think the inherent problem with this type of setup is that these guys go *under* your grips, which are somewhat of a thermal insulator. Someone should make a pair of grips infused with a durable heating element.
Has anyone ever run into trouble with a dual headlight setup + other accessories? Put another way, has anyone found the limit to the SV alternator/generator? Not that I'll be installing a 3kW sub woofer or anything, but just curious how much punishment it can take.
