New Kansas Owner

Hello. Kansas is a long way from SoCal, but this site has a lot of nice resources so I thought I would sign up.

I bought a 2001 SV650/S last October. It's my first street bike, and my primary excuse for buying it was to save on gas. My other vehicle is a 2001 Silverado, so averaging 45 and 15 MPG comes out OK.

The real reason I bought the bike is I've always wanted one and I didn't want to buy a Harley like everyone else.

My bike is a nasty looking green but everything else about it is great. I plan to paint it flat black during the off season.

I have some scheduled maintenance to do so until it's warm enough to ride I'm going to pull off all the painted bits and get to work.

Thanks for the great forum, and for the record I'm pretty sure evolution is real.

I was also hoping to slide in without a Wizard of Oz reference but what else can I expect?

The good news is it's supposed to be 42 degrees today so I may get to ride. Most of the snow and ice have melted so I should be able to take a spin around the neighborhood.

welcome. Mississippi here. (I just rent). I got a first gen S last Aug. as my first bike. these california assholes have a lot of stuff worth listening to...most of the time ;)

you should take pics and make a project thread about your painting and whatnot.
