....alright.......I give up......
....can't figure out how to post a pic.........and did a search on the subject....but found nothing.....
...so can one of you tech savy individuals.....point me in the right direction?....
....thank you kinkdly....

If the image is on your hard disk, you can "attach" the image to your post by selecting the image using the "browse" button in the "Attach file" filed. It is right before the "Submit Reply/Post" button, and below the "Options" field. More help here (http://www.socalsvriders.com/forums/misc.php?s=&action=faq&page=3#attachments)

If the image is somewhere on the web and is of a valid image file type (JPG, GIF, PNG, not HTML), you can use the
[img]http://url.to.image/image.jpg[/img]
vbcode. More help here (http://www.socalsvriders.com/forums/misc.php?s=&action=bbcode) (under "Adding images")
If you have a bunch of images, use the Gallery (http://www.socalsvriders.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Photo_Gallery&file=index). Select an appropriate album, create an empty album, then click "add photos". A pop-up will appear, and you can select the images you'd like to upload, OR "zip" up the images you want to upload and select the zip file.

ok, if I want to post a pic from my local pc and I click on attach (and browse to the file) does it automatically upload like email? When I previewed the post, it had removed the attachment link, does the pic have to be sourced from a url? thnx.

You browse to it so the file location is in the "attach" box, and then just hit send... It'll automatically upload the file...
And if it doesn't work, you can always edit your post and play around with it more...

And if you want to up load a ton of pictures, that's what the gallery is for. (Though I suppose after about a 1 megs worth we should send Paul $ towards a larger hard drive.)

Pictures do not show on the preview and I think they may be dropped... you just need to submit to get the picture to transfer

Paul, could you tell us what determines if a picture in a thread is shown automatically in a post or if you have to down load it separately. Does it have to do with it being JPG or BMP?
GIF or JPG files will display (and PNG perhaps). Windows BMP and all other allowed upload file types won't display in the post, you'd need to download it first. BMP's aren't used in html <img> tags as far as I know. I suppose I could add a converter.

Not a bad idea... would cut down on the storage space required. Or just block that file type for uploads.

Ok.. Windows BMP images can now be attached and displayed as jpeg. I hacked a conversion routine that converts bmp to jpeg on-the-fly. Enjoy.

only if they're hosted on the web somewhere (ie you album) then use the IMG tag:

The button says browse.
It's pretty obviouse that you can attach a picture or a file to a new message, but is it possible to attach a file when you post a reply? if so, how?

Rather than using the quick reply box at the bottom of the thread, click the "post reply" button. then you can attach the picture you want.
i see it . . . thanks a bunch!
