So I went out for a ride today - Down HVR to Old Julian, then a quick stop for pie in Santa Ysabel. Well, to my surprise, the parking lot of the Julian Pie Co. was full of old Triumphs, Ariels, BSAs, an old HD, and a really old Indian. I think my bike was the only one there without a kick-starter.

Turns out the San Diego Vintage MC Club was also taking a pie break on their way down to Borrego Springs.

Unfortunately, I only had my camera phone on me, but I managed to get a couple of shots:

That is pretty cool! Nice to see some old iron roll.

I agree - I think the coolest part was not necessarily seeing the old bikes, but seeing them being RIDDEN and not just sitting in a museum somewhere...

I got a notice from a friend about the meet today and bummed that I can't get there.

For those of you who CAN make it, the AHRMA races at Willow Springs are an AWESOME 2 days of motorcycles.

Featherbed Nortons, BSA/Triumph triples, Manx, 2-strokes (there's even a TZ750) - rigid frame/hand shift/foot clutch!, then at night, they go over to the dirt track and have vintage flat track racing.

I think it's really cool when people actually ride or race these machines instead of keeping them indoors and dusting them once in a while.
