If you have a race license, North County House of Motorcycles (NoCoHoMo) gives huge discounts on parts. Huge Huge Huge! I bought a chain for my hayabusa, it listed everywhere for around $210, after my discount it was under $170 with tax! Also the parts guys there are always pretty cool.

Has anyone gone to Asylum motorsports in the City of industry? opinions?

If not, Does anyone have a recomendation for a good shop in the San Gabriel Valley? I was looking at moomba, but they don't do public servicing anymore, looking from their website.

Thanks

Wasn't sure how to add the stars and stuff to stores, but I just wanted to let people know of my experience with Forward Motion, especially for those that live near by.

They were really friendly and helpful. They have a lot of parts and accessories there and can order almost anything like cans and stuff.

So for those in the area, call them up if you need to replace something.

Hi guys,
where do you guys normally buy extra parts, specifically oil/air filters and stuff they don't sell at auto stores like napa, etc. also what kind of grease do i need to buy for chain lubing? Will wheel bearing grease from the auto store work?

Thanks

Moto shops have all that... there are two here in Ridgecrest, even, so you should have no trouble finding one down there in the smog.

And actually car stores often do have motorcycle oil filters, if not chain lube.

You need a chain lubricant for the chain...don't put grease on there...oil and filters can be found at any motorcycle accessary store... and some oils can be found at places like walmart and regular autopart stores..

This may open up argument, but buy a quality oil filter. I like to avoid Fram and so forth oil filters. I have had problems with them leaking and blowing out seals on other bikes. I stick with Suzuki OEM filters or Emgo makes a decent filter or K&N. Just avoid off brand stuff. You can also order those online somtimes in bulk, say 5 at a time. Then you have them and wont have to worry about them.

Chain lube is another topic of argument, but anything quality made for an )-ring chain will work fine. Some guys like chain waxes, some like liquid lube. It all works well, just make sure it is made for your application.

I second the OEM filter and the K&N , however I would not go near an emgo...

YOu should have three shops in ridgecrest.... Unless Larry went under. I was just stationed out there left in November. I prefered J&L's over RMC and Desert....

How about Poway Cycle?

They came highly recommended on some other messageboards.

I need my valve clearances adjusted, and I was debating between Lee's and Poway, but after talked to Poway, I am planning on taking it there.

I went to Poway and I think they do good work and are honest guys. I will say I paid a little more than I would have at Lee's for my big 15k service (at 12k miles) and they didn't bleed the brakes which was kind of a bummer given what they charged and the brakes did need it. I believe that is part of Lee's fee that they charge.

Looking to buy a new helmet, jacket, and gloves. Can anyone suggest a place in LA or Orange County? At this point I'm going to hit up Hammy Boys and West Coast GP Cycles in Santa Monica because they're relatively close to my home. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Define great. The owner tried to sell me a gsxr750 back in 1999 when I didn't even know how to ride a motorcycle. He knew this because I was asking about how to get a license and what not. I understand business is business, but he was asking too much anyway, and got upset when I told him no thanks.

Other than that, there's an older guy there that does parts. He was nice once and gave me a lesson on jetting (drew diagrams and everything), but after that, whenever I'd go in there to pick up an emergency part, he made it seem like I was a burden because he had to ring me up.

May 21st, 2008 - Brad Drops his K5 SV650S named Heidi off at Hahm Newport for a warranty repair of a bent shift fork.

September 8, 2008 - Brad gets a call from Hahm Anaheim that says they are starting repairs on his bike. Yes, STARTING them...

For you mathamatically challenged, thats a long time - almost 4 months (Prime summer riding months) to repair a bent shift fork. I have been without my bike and without my sanity and without a clue as to why the hell it takes so long to do this work.

I tried to be cool and I tried to be firm, but in the end it took a full page letter to SEP (Suzuki Extended Protection), Suzuki Customer Service, Hahm Anaheim and Hahm Newport with a c.c. to my Attorney to get anything done. I even went to face them in person and all i got was shivers.

Since then Hahm Newport has won my business back thanks to Scott and the tall skinny parts guy (the ONLY reason i went there int he first place is that my wife had a $250 dollar gift certificate) - but Anaheim will not be seeing me anytime soon. I'm sure they are just devistated by that....

I am still puzzled as to where the SNAFU was but the long and short is I do not care. Their protocol is not my concern. Getting my bike fixed is.

So - ONE DAY after i sent a letter to Suzuki Customer Service in Brea Ca. I get a call from them saying that the instant Suzuki C.S. phones SEP the warranty repair is somehow magically approved, and the next day Hahm Anaheim calls to say that are waiting on ordered parts.

Hi boys and girls, can you say clusterfuck? I knew you could.

Ok, if you are still reading this, thanks for listening to me complain. I will be making the long drive out to Malcom Smith from here on out for ALL of my motorcycle issues...

If you want the full story behind the wait, jsut ask, I AM HAPPY TO TELL IT TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO HEAR.

PB. Dictum Meum Pactum.

One time I went in there for something weird on my forks (which was actually my fault, shhhhh) and they wouldn't let me take the bike until they had replaced the aftermarket oil filter with Suzuki OEM and put in fresh oil. I even argued with the guy about how it didn't void any warranties but he was serious enough about it that they did it anyway, no charge.

Thu 9/11/08, 1:07PM
thats wacky. they cant fault me there, cuz hahm actually SOLD me the aftermarket filter on my bike, so if they pull that crap, i will direct them to their own staff.

i dunno man - it jsut seems rediculous that it should take this long. HOPEFULLY its done tomorrow and i can ride this weekend. riding the wifes GS500F isnt the same.. hahaa.

I need to get my SV put back together, but no longer have a garage or any good area to work on it. I live in the OC right now.

Anybody know of any good shops for this in the OC?

Anybody hear anything good or bad about Superbike Nation in Orange?

I used the search feature and couldnt find an answer to this so...

Anyone know of a good place in the OC for the 11k service on an 02 sv? Mach 1 quoted me at 350 + parts and everyone ive talked to has said good things about them. OTD motorsports listed the 13k service for 380, not sure if it includes parts or what....

Let me know if you know of a place with reasonable prices, would be much appreciated!
