I was wondering if it is neccesary for the handle bar ends to be on? If they need to be on, how do I replace them? I only need this info due to that someone ripped mine off. I got new ones but dont know how to place back on.
thanks

Probably not, but don't take my word for it... I think that most of what they're there for is to reduce vibration (hence they *should* be on unless you want numb hands)... And they attach with just a screw, although I don't know the size, etc.

Didn't they come with the rubber bushing & screws?

Yeah they do.. There should be two nuts, one on each end of the rubber bushing. The idea is to get both nuts tight against the rubber bushing so that when you tighten the screw the rubber bushing expands in the tube and pretty much gets stuck in the handle bar. So all you have to do is put it all in and tighten the screw and if everything works out they'll stay in place.. I made sure it would work before I put it in by holding onto the outer piece and tightening the screw, you should see the rubber bushing expand like a balloon. Hope that helps...

You don't need to keep the bar ends if you don't want to. Their purpose is to dampen vibration at the bar. You are able to steer a little quicker without them, but the bars might buzz quite a bit. Mine had a habit of coming loose all the time. I put some blue threadlocker on the screw and all is well.

The only problem is that the when the dumbasses stole them they left one bushing in cuz i guess they are glue and both the inside nuts. i think a magnetic wand will help. Is there any bar end caps that any one makes?
thanks for all the help

What are those (black) metal knobs on the ends of the handlebars for? I can remove them, but do i need them? Can I replace the center screw holding them on with shorter ones, such as to protect the screw hole?

I kinda like how it looks without those things. Any comments would be appreciated.

They are just what their names say, bar end, thats it. I dont think youd want to take them off, as it would leave your handlebars with exposed holes, and just look bad.

Also, if you dumped the bike, youd run a bigger risk of damaging you/or your conrtols.

The weights that are the bar ends help reduce the vibrations in the handlebars.

Even though I don't like them, I got longer bar ends to protect my mirrors and whatnot should I drop my bike again. Plus, w/o them my handlebars vibrated even more if you can believe that's possible!! :p

They can also be replaced with delrin pucks that act as sliders. They don't provide much by way of weight, but they do afford another layer of protection for the bike.

Dude, sliding pucks doesn't make you a good rider!!!:p

Bar end sliders actually work pretty good in a crash. I'll be putting them and possibly swing arm sliders on my bike here pretty soon.

If you have clipons, then you don't have a rubber bushing. The clipon is solid aluminum and the bar weight screws into it. I took mine off and replaced them with Intuitive bar sliders. White Buffalo Racing has the hookup on good pricing for all Intuitive sliders.

I have the bar sliders, Intu pro frame sliders and the spool/swingarm sliders, and ... I have no idea how they work in a crash, but my bike took a lot of expensive damage when I did crash that it wouldn't have if I'd had those sliders.

If you are not concerned about vibration counterweights, and you are not concerned about sliders, and you are only concerned about "cleaning up" the bike, your local BMX shop should have bar ends that fit, and you can get all sorts of groovy colors and designs. Failing that, they should have cheap plastic stoppers. But I would throw on the sliders, IIWY.

I mounted the LSL handlebar converstion kit, it comes with 7/8 superbike low-rise hollow handlebars. I plan to either use a Bar Snake or handlebar weights, not sure which would be better. Currently l am riding the bike with neither and can barely notice any vibration. :groove:

ok i put delrin bar ends on my bike and the vibration can sometimes be unbearable at times...im thinking of hunting down some OEM bar ends for the weight factor..or can i just put some weights at the end of the barend..maybe something to wrap around it???

I have 6 pairs of barends. Most with minor scuffing. Let me know if you need a pair. No screws or rubber grommet just the bar ends. Got 2 pairs off older R1 barends, 3 pairs off GSXR barends and a pairs of the big SV barends. I'll get pic for you later.
