It's time to attack Azusa again, peoples!!!! The road has been resurfaced, so let's go play! Breakfast at Mt. Baldy Lodge (if they're open by the time we get up there.... if not, then Buckhorn Lodge.) So..... who's with me!?


Route: (ignore the pause at San Gabriel Reservoir. 2nd pause is Mt. Baldy Lodge, "end point" is Buckhorn Lodge, just for reference so everyone knows where our two possible destinations are. :D )

I was just up there last Sunday. Lots of asphalt patches and some sand in the corners...had a 'moment' in one of 'em.

Oh, and saw 10 cop cars and the coroner on East Fork...anybody have access to some info ???

Cop was situated on the right at the river/restaurant on the way in...he paced me for about 2 miles. Thanks to another biker for the heads-up:D

Yes, the resurfacing is only up Glendora Mt. Rd. not on Glendora Ridge Rd. Sorry! Forgot! And sand in corners? Do we need to hire corner workers for that road, er what!? :p

it has not been resurfaced, rode this route on Sunday still kinda of dirty once you hang that tight right up to Baldy

Just got home, outside of the ridge being covered in mud, it was a nice day today for the ride.

Took it easy as usual and enjoyed the view/ride.

On the way back when I got on the 210 West at Towne Ave. I saw 4/5 of our group pulled over by The Man. What happened? and I am so glad I left 5 mins after you fellas :) hehe

Julia and William, thanks for organizing it. Well done! Sorry I didn't get to say an official goodbye, I had to jet to meet a friend....to go to the Ducati dealer and drool...I'm sure you understand Julia. :)

Yeah, I hope the CHPs weren't too hard on those guys. I saw them pulled over right next to the on ramp where I got on the 210 to go home. Getting a ticket on a boring highway sucks!

Can't wait to do it again...maybe I'll bring a broom to sweep the windshields out of the road next time....

The kid on the R1(Alan) and i got pulled over, i was giving the R1 a test ride, unbelievably fast, i no longer want a liter bike. He said he got us at "88" but that was an extreme gift. Overall a cool cop. Got a ticket, have to see how this all pans out.

The perfect streak is over, that is my first moving violation, ever. 10 years first ticket.

Mehesh- glad you came, and VERY glad you went at your own pace. We aren't into getting people in over their heads, and none of us mind taking a shade break for a few minutes every now and again. You kept the sticky side down, and enjoyed yourself, and those are the most important bits!

So what did everybody think of the lodge? I rather liked it!! It was nice to have the patio like that!

Yep I had a great time too!!! I've done this ride a few times but today was my first try in the "fast group". I think I held my own but the guys on the ZX-10 & R1 that were in front of me were impressive!!!! I never got their names but you guys get props from me!!! I learned today that I can ride pretty well if someone's in front of me, but if I was in front, I would have been riding half as fast. Once again, great job Will & Julia!!!

Thanks to all who showed up! Bummer for those who didn't :( but man, we were a big group as it was!

We were so fortunate with the weather yesterday! On our way to the meet point, I was thinking "Burr! I hope it's not this chilly up there!" But the haze burned off, and the temperature was PERFECT!

Oh, and my memory apparently needs tuning, as I coulda' SWORN the road had been resurfaced! Oops! Sorry guys! Guess it was just wishful thinking. :p But all in all it was pretty darn clean, considering I've seen it much MUCH worse up there.

Yeah.... were you right behind me up 39 to East Fork? That's why I waved you past me, cuz I'm the same way... until I get to know the road well. :D Last time I did GMR and GRR, I was puttering compared to the faster riders, so I didn't want to hold anyone up, and I figured I'd let the fast group pass me before the fun twisties began! But then Thudds went past, and I thought.... oh, hell yeah, it's on! And I was on his tail the whole way up. ;) (Yeah, you know you liked it Thudds :p )

Anyway. Turns out Mt. Baldy Lodge doesn't open on SATURDAYS until 11, which is why we haven't eaten there in the past (since I think our past Azusa rides have been on Saturday.) But Sundays, they're open at 9. Yay for us! :D But man, what a great place! Food was reasonably priced and very tasty, and the patio was perfect with the outside temperatures being what they were.

It was great to see familiar faces and new ones as well. Little by little I'm putting more faces to names / screen names! Woo hoo!


Yeah.... good times.... good friends. ;)

I bagged out. I'm still feeling like a scaredy pants after my crash. I rode over to meet you guys, and then chickened out and went to Bert's and bought shin/knee guards. Had a coffee and a snack. Then gassed up to go back to Burbank.

I got on the highway and went one stop, exited, and then parked my bike on Foothill Blvd. to check a very important text message. (at least I told myself it was important) Then I sat there debating. Go home. Go up the mountain. Go home. Go up the mountain.

Then I drove up 39 and into the mountains telling myself I was going to drive to the dead end past the OHV staging area and then go home. I did that and then figured I might see you guys at the crossroad at the top, so I turned around and rode up there.

There were a bunch of bikers up there, but no SV riders, so I went home.

I feel a bit better riding now, but I'm still scared. I've been telling myself I was going to sell my SV and buy a hampster instead. But I keep buying things like shin guards and spine protectors, and now I'm looking at the gouge on my helmet and wondering what color my new helmet is gonna be.

So I'll keep my SV. At least for a few more days. Then again, I still have that free track day I need to cash in on. Maybe I'll sell my SV after I do the track day.

Yeah, that's what I'll do.

But then again, I always wanted a big fat cruiser. Maybe I'll get one of those. I bet those are a lot safer than my SV1000S But you can't do a track day on a Yamaha Warrior...........

Sorry I did not show up as well. I am not a flake. I had to stay home and have some 1 on 1 with my partner. It's been a while since we've spent the weekend together, so I had to do it! And by the way. There weren't any 1 lane sections to Ojai from Santa Paula anymore, yah!!! Still too many slow cars though! :p

although it's more due to a super stiff rear shock than anything else, I think

I can either swap the spring, get one of those inflatable donuts, or maybe add a springer seat. In the meantime, if any of you need some paint cans shaken up, just stash it in my tailsection.

Don't be scared man. I always take it really easy in the canyons. I cruise at tourist speed. I have fun, but my main concern is getting myself and my bike home in one piece. If you need somebody to ride with, let me know. Azusa is not that scary. :)

If you're REALLY itching to see a certain one in color, I still have the raw files which can be processed either way, but the jpgs were b&w and it was faster to just upload them as shot. So there :p

Thanks malkey! I love my new SV! My insurance company basically sucks... they told me the S4 was totalled but they still havent picked it up from the dealership yet, sent me my check, or told me how much the buy back was gonna be... I know that's gonna be a long process, so I just went out and did the stupid thing... bought a brand new bike!

But you're only young, single, and dumb once in your life so why not? Plus I dont feel in a rush to resolve the insurance situation anymore... I can get what I deserve from the insurance company.
