This is a poll I put up a couple of years ago and thought I'd reserect it becaues it's kind of a fun topic (plus I haven't thought of anything better in a while).

Cops. Po-po. The Fuzz. F'ing Pigs. Whatever you want to call the boys in blue, they are always on our minds when we're out riding. "It was a good day at Palomar. No cops." Is something I have said myself a zillion times when describing a good ride. If we know where the cops are, we will actively choose to ride somewhere else in an attempt to avoid being put down by The Man. But eventually you are in the wrong place at the wrong time and you get busted. So I wanna know for what and how often? Are you a one time offender, or do you seem to attract the attention of the authorities often?
So vote on what your DMV record looks like and post up if you have something to say. You can also vote more than once.

You need a category for "haven't been caught"

As well as a category for, "Been pulled over but batted lashes and flashed some cleavage and was let go with a warning instead."

I've been given the slow down sign by cops and pulled over and given a warning. No tickets yet.

I've received a warning for going 90 on the 8 and parking ticket in Julian, that's it though

Speeding doesn't always mean you're a "biker renegade." Any of us could get a ticket breaking the limit while keeping up with the flow of traffic.
Besides... none of us on this board will ever be the true Renegade.

Back in 1988, my count stood at 11 tickets, all speeding and about half on motorcycles, and 11 pullovers with just warnings. For a total of 22 visits with the man.
Since then, I've gotten only one speeding ticket in 1990. I've been pulled over for speeding four other times but only got warnings. Three of those times, the cops seemed to be nicely distracted by my CCW, and let me go with warnings. Those three times I was riding my old KZ900. The fourth time was two years ago for driving my cage at 8 over the limit. Oh, and I got pulled over for speeding another time and only got a ticket for an expired license. And I got a ticket for passing some slug in a cage on the right (but there was plenty room due to a freeway onramp.)
So, all that has resulted in a mellowed (beaten down actually) guy in his 40's who still hates the sight of cops, and still tries to push my speed, but only within 10 mph of the limit. Since at my last speeding ticket, the cop told me that they don't care 'till you're 11 or above the limit. I know this is arbitrary, and not true in all cases, but the advice has served me fairly well.
Back when I was a motorcycle messenger, riding every day rain or shine, I noticed that I never got tickets in the rain. I guess cops don't like to stand outside in the rain. So if it's raining, you're safer except for the fact that you're not safer in the rain. So go out in the rain, drive as fast as you want, but don't slip and fall, and don't forget that cagers see even worse in the rain (so do you.)
Oh, and I've also had cops flash their lights at me when I was pushing it, but not pull me over. I guess I'm a hopeless case.
You know? I only weigh about 240, so maybe if I put on some more fluff, I'll get some cleavage to flash. :batlash: :-&

I tried that once, but the police officer didn't think a drunk sweaty bald mexican was very sexy. I beg to differ. Needless to say I was given a seat belt ticket (I was a passenger btw) even though I was wearing one....I think. I don't think blowing kisses at him was a good idea either.
I was lectured by a scootercop on the 15 fwy in Rancho Bernardo while we were still riding. We had the whole fwy. slowed down to about 15mph. I did not use my signal while changing lanes. The other time I recieved a parking ticket for parking on sidewalk infront of Ralphs in Temecula. Numerous harasements on Palomar and Ortega.

I hope you didn't pay that. Unless Ralphs requested you be ticketed the city can't get you for illegal parking on private property.

Just got a ticket last month on the 210 East in Glendora. Said I crossed the double yellow in the carpool twice while lane splitting, even though I was not speeding. I think he was ticked because I have no plates, even though as I clearly showed to him with my documentation, the DMV registered it as an OHV and they are in process of fixing it. $381 for what i have seen police and other riders do every day. Oh well, lets see how the trial by declaration process goes. Thats my first ticket on the bike. Been pulled over every week with the GSXR since I have no plates, but the cops usually are OK when I show them my paperwork detailing what happened. Notthis guy, "its your responsibility to make sure plates are on the bike". Logic didn't apply to him I guess :p

Why does it not surprise me that you'd get away with just a warning for doing 90...?

I hope I dont lose my license on june 12
Not a bad poll to reserect, for sure!! Personally, I have gotten 2 tickets on my bike for speeding. Both of them after coming back from rides, so I guess it was better just getting speeding tickets then cops running me down for driving dangerously or something like that out in Telegraph or headed somewhere up north.. I guess I got a little cocky because of how much fun I have out on the twisties then gotta speed up to enjoy the roads once I got back into town... BAD JUJU!!! Take my advice, leave the knee dragging out on the twisties because there just aren't many tight turns here in the city without feeding your ride some throttle!!
Anyways, that's my $0.02 on this one, but still have fun whenever possible!!

I was going to work on a critical care transport ambulance, it was waiting for me in the lot in front of our station, the HB motor cop was sitting 40 meters from it, my EMTs were sitting in it with the red flashers on, waiting for me...he "lazered" me on the street just before coming into the lot at 64 in a 45...I told him I was a nurse getting on that ambulance to go get a critically ill patient to a hospital where he would get life-saving care...he looked me in the eye and said, "I will write fast." When he handed me the ticket, I smiled sheepishly and said, "your'e gonna need me someday." Then I walked away. I went to traffic school. Since then I have only been hassled when I asked a Newport motor cop if he wanted to race for pinks...he did not think it was funny, I didn't either after he was done hassling me. I may be old, but I am not grown up yet.

I've gotten two tickets on my motorcycle so far, the first of which was witnessed by several of our SCSVR members on Mulholland on the way to The Gathering 2004. (Hey, someone had to take the fall, right?)
I beat both tickets via trial by declaration :D

Not to rub it in, but it sure is nice being a female motorcycle rider when you get pulled over by a male cop. I was coming home on the 118 Saturday doing 80 in the carpool lane. No biggie, we all drive 80! Well, the cop caught up to me and paced me from behind. I was lying down on the tank and never knew he was behind me, ha ha! The fucker just sat behind me w/o his flashers on waiting to see how long it would take for me to see him. It was a couple miles at least when I finally sat up and looked in my mirrors and was like, doh!!!! Then he lit me up. Bummer. Pulled over and the first thing he said was, do you know how long I was behind you? I was like, obviously not! So, he ran my license, then let me go telling me to slow down and watch my mirrors. :o

Ha ha! A bunch of horny female cops may be dangerous!
I am usually pretty good about my mirrors too. However, I was running on 2 hours of sleep, wanted to get back home, and was feeling my forks over bumps marveling over the fact that I waited so long to have them worked on. Besides, I figure the rare occasion I get pulled over is okay. As long as it is not when I am doing something totally stupid! I have a tendency to break the speed laws on anything I drive. :o

normally I just scroll on but I have to reply to this one. To date ( since 1974) I have gotten 58 moving violations, lost my licence 3 times. Once got a ticket for 129 on radar. Only about 5 tickets on a bike. I like to go fast.I had a hemi roadrunner, and then a 440 6pack super bee.
