I would go but I'm gonna be out of town this weekend...maybe I'll try to come down early Sunday.
Telegraph and 94 is where I always ride. 10 mins away from me.

When are we actually going to get the bulk of this rapidly growing group together for one massive ride??????? I think it'd be sweet to roll up to the restaurant on top of Palomar with like 50 SV's taking over the parking lot!!!! :D

Who's in? And after that, we can take over the world.....

Yeah! We need to set up a date way ahead of time. Like Saturday, September 7? My planner looks empty that day (and pretty much everyday) :D Someone start another thread/poll on gathering of the masses.

The ride's still on of course! Still figuring out when and where we're meeting. Since we're taking 94E, we could meet closer to El Cajon.

Do you plan on starting from Telegraph and heading east all the way past Dulzura and go through the 94? A usual meeting spot is the Mobil on Telegraph.
I might not be going to LA anymore....keep us posted.

Sailor failed to negotiate curve in fatal accident
By Irene McCormack Jackson

July 17, 2002

A motorcyclist who failed to negotiate a curve was killed Monday night when he crashed his new bike into an oncoming tractor-trailer on a highway in Jamul.

The victim, an active-duty sailor from Florida, was not identified pending notification of relatives.

The crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. on state Route 94 on a winding section of road known as Gasoline Alley, about three miles east of Otay Lakes Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was eastbound with three friends, also riding motorcycles. Thetractor-trailer was carrying 38 tons of rocks and had crossed the border from Mexico at Tecate.

The victim failed to make a turn, and his 2003 Suzuki GSXR 750 went down and slid into the front end of the truck, said CHP Officer Frank Lamb.

The motorcycle lodged under the truck's left front tire, and the rider slid under the vehicle, where he was run over.

The truck skidded for 200 feet with the motorcycle stuck underneath.

"The friction of the metal on the roadway caused major sparks," Lamb said. "It was throwing sparks, throwing sparks and then boom,it burst into flames."

The truck's driver and his three passengers escaped without injury, Lamb said. The other motorcyclists were not injured.

Lamb said it is not unusual for inexperienced motorcycle riders to have problems on the winding East County roads.

"Unfortunately, it happens all too often out there," he said. "It seems they are always young and enlisted military."

Want to meet at the Edwards Theater off the 94/Campo junction around 10AM? I'm not sure if we're doing 94 or Lyons Valley Rd. 94 seems a bit long.

Another group of us will be meeting at the Mobile gas station on La Jolla Village Dr - Villa La Jolla at 9:30AM.

Here's a preliminary ride map:

So that's what I passed by today. I heard about the accident but didn't know where it was. The road was burnt up and it reeked of gasoline.

I saw that burnt area on the road today too.

I made the map with MS Streets and Trips 2002. It's a great tool... if more people have it (or want to borrow it) i can post the *.est files so you can zoom it on the map and stuff.

Mind if I bring my KTM Supermoto on this ride instead of my SV, need to put some break-in miles on it.

Can somebody give me directions to the Edwards theatre off the 94.

I'm taking the 15 down. Does the 94 cross the 15? If so.....from the 15, do I head east on the 94?

Yes it does. IIRC, the 94 should end and you continue on the street a few lights down. There should be a shopping area on the right.

Ya, you could take 15 all the way and then 94E. It might be shorter just to take 15S then 8E, exit Spring St/Downtown, go south, and you'll hit 94E. Continue on 94E and it'll make a right turn (if you keep on going straight, it'll be 54 instead).

Here's a map of where Edwards Theater is. There's a Rubio's next to it i think..

See you guys tomorrow! Time for me to catch some ZzzzZ's

Burst
Sun 7/21/02, 1:40AM
That would actually be a little longer.......
15 south to 94 will be the best bet. Spring Street has a lot of stop lights and you almost never can catch greens all the way through.

Guys,

Had a great time today. I was at the rear riding with TomSV650 and a FZ and I must have taken a wrong turn because we ended up in Alpine, then rode home. Had to make it a short day anyway.

I was a pleasure to meet everyone and I am looking forward to the next get together.

Sorry about that guys. You guys didn't even make it to the first set of twisties on Lyons Valley Rd. Bad leadership on my part :( Next time (that is I hope there is a next time) I'll make sure to bring turn-by-turn maps for all with meeting points and make sure everyone knows the route beforehand. Riding in a large group, it's important that everyone check their rearview mirrors to see if the person behind you is still there periodically. So that if you're not taking up the rear, and there's no one behind you means that it's time to turn back and so on...

Thanks to everyone who came. It's very nice to meet you all. We had a great turnout!

I think the military speak is: Young dumb and full of cum.

Sorry I missed the ride. But its a long haul from LA.

On the rides I've been on the group waits at main intersection for the slowest rider. Which is usually me.

Being at the front of the group on Palomar was a first for me. Usually I am somwhere in the middle. I hope all of you had fun. I still feel bad that guy went down........ Glad he's ok though.

Here's a pic of the group before it started to dwindle......

Fun ride today. Started out a little confusing, but we hit some nice roads and ended the day with some good runs on Palomar. I'm glad that guy on the YZF600 didn't get hurt and it's cool those dudes trucked his bike back to the gas station.

We should do this again. Next time we should talk about what roads we're gonna hit and maybe some meeting spots along the way. As soon as Paul and his crew showed up at the Edwards, we all just left.

Im sorry i missed that ride. but i was recovering from the GMR ride, 7:30am on saturday is pretty early for me so i did wake up till 10:30am on sunday. It looks like alot of blue sv . Blue sv's are #1. It also sounds like their was some confusion which i love. why do these inline fours keep going down? Aaron yesterday and mr YZF today.
I rode ortega today at about 12:00 alot of traffic but no cops, im glad they were taking a break.
When are we going to have a big weekend ride out? im up for it. Maybe september 7th as someone suggested.

Sorry I missed the rest of the ride on Sunday. For some reason I thought we were just taking a different route and would be meeting up again when we split off. Oh well.

Still had a blast and got some good turns in. Stinkyboatguy was leading a good fast pase.

Looking forward to the next ride!! It was nice meeting you all.

BTW, the RED bikes are FASTER!:D
