I've made the $135 plunge for August 25th (a Sunday) at ButtonWillow. It's put up by Track Daz. Went through these guys before......... they're pretty cool.
Common.............who's next?........... I need somebody I can pass.
:D
Link : http://www.trackdaz.com/
You know you want to................... yeah baby.
:D
For the privelage of passing me it will cost a one time fee of $300, that way I can buy a set of leathers so you can pass me on the track. Only way I'll do it.
Stop laughing! Come on you know you've got a few hundred just layin around waiting to be spent........

A few hundred Pesos.
I gotta get some new rubbers......... you think they'll take foreign currencies?
Oh hell........... maybe I can sell my luscious piece of ass. Pass the word to your sistas..........
:D
I'll be sure to pass along that little tid bit on to my sister........

Alright, I'm in!
Signed up with Track DaZ today, and I'm all set for the 25th. You can pass me all you want... on the freeway on the way there. After that, all bets are off. :cowboy:
But seriously, I'm slow. I just had my first track day ever last Sunday at Cal Speedway with Fastrack. It was so awesomely fun, I'm instantly hooked. They might as well call it a Crack Day, it's that addictive.
But I was the one and only SV there last weekend. :( Come on people, y'all gotta represent. So Cal's gonna tear up Bakersfield come August 25th. Two and counting.

way to go Iduke.......
Common people. You'll have a blast, and improve on your street riding by a gazillion folds...........................honest
It's not a requirement for you to go fast, so don't be intimidated. By the end of the day, you may even get to pass me once or twice............ that's not saying much though.
:D
Make sure you sign up for the street group. That's the slower group.

Where is ButtonWillow located?
Just got back from getting an MRI of my right shoulder. Fucker hurts all the time. Untill I get that squared away my riding is limited. Oh, and getting a job might help pay for full leathers, M1s and the track fee.

Before you plop down $135 for a day at Willowsprings, you mughth consider checking this out:
www.ccriderlosangeles.com
I believe their price for a day at Willowsprings is $99 with lunch.
:D

$99 is a great deal for a track day. Looks like the CCRider folks require minimum bike prep, and limit their total registrants to 40 riders, which means it won't get too crowded out on the track.
But it should be noted that the CCRider day is held on the "Streets of Willow" course at Willow Springs raceway, while the Track DaZ event is at Buttonwillow, a different race track altogether.
http://www.willowspringsraceway.com/

Fortunately, with this Buttonwillow day being August 25th, and the next CCRider day being Sept 25th, there's plenty of time to ride them both! :D

Well, I went over to Berts Mega Mall today to look around, ended up trying the largest size of leathers they had (Technic)... Turns out they're too narrow in the thigh area for them to come all the way up my legs, and too short in the midsection to reach my shoulders...
So this means I'll probably end up needing custom leathers (maybe a trip to Chapparal can change this), but if so, I'm going to end up at ZCustom, and probably spending around $1300... I don't know if I'll be able to even afford that by late September... This blows :(

Hey all! There's only two more spots available in the street group for the TrackDaZ day at Buttonwillow on Sunday, August 25th. (Plus a handful of spots in the race group for you fast guys.)
http://www.trackdaz.com/
There's three of us from this board signed up already. In case anyone was on the fence, wondering if they should sign up, you should! Definitely.
It's just about a month away, plenty of time to get everything in order for the track. I can't wait! Let's see, what do I need to remember to bring... hmm... oil, tools, plenty of gatorade, extra cojones, umbrella girls... :cowboy:

How big are you? Just wondering because when I bought my leathers I was totally ignorant and allowed the salesperson to sell me something that's too big.
Maybe :D
I just signed up! How are we gonna get there? Ride early? Get there Saturday & hotel? It'd be cheap split 4 ways.

It's easy to get there. All you have to do is take the 5 north until you hit Buttonwillow. It's about 2 hours north of Magic Mountain.
I'm gonna truck my bike up like last time. I recommend you do the same if able, since you will need to bring extra gas and all that. But if not........ let me know. You can just ride up there on your bike, and I'll store the extra gas in my truck..........just give me a storage container.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I plan to get there Saturday evening, eat, sleep, then ride all of Sunday........then go home. I would highly recommend that you get there the night before so you are well rested for the track.
Oh..... did I mentioned they have a new track rule now?................
...It is highly illegal for you to pass Rod............
...amount of fine is solely dependant upon Rods' financial situation...

6'5", about 270 lbs... Yeah, they don't make leathers for me... I know they need to be snug though. I might (if I can find someplace that sells them that I can try on) end up just getting some Dainese pants to zip into my jacket, since I don't want to cough up $1300 (yet) for leathers :)

...if you could loose 4" in height, we might be able to work something out.
Does anyone want to share a motel room for track day?
Lemme know, cuz I sure don't wanna hafta a) spend more than I need to & b) ride up on the day we hit the track.
This is gonna be so much fun.

Way to go Natedawgg. Glad you're coming. It's going to be a blast.
I'm going together with a non-SV buddy of mine and I haven't yet worked out plans with him regarding transportation and lodging and such. We might end up getting up early and heading north at 5AM that morning.
I'll keep you posted and see if anything works out where we can help each other out.

You might wanna reconsider driving up on track day. It's a longass way away. If 3 or 4 of us all got a room together it'd be dirt cheap and we'd be rested.
I totally thought this was at Willow Springs. Aparantly it's at Buttonwillow. Have no idea how to get there.

Check with me later........
I'm going up with my neighbor, and I'm not sure what his plans are. If he ends up staying with his relatives there, then I'll split a room with you. And if there is only one bed.............. guess who's sleepin on the floor.
Even if you end up with your own room, it's only ~$40.

Boy is my face red. After all my hyping and ranting about the 25th, I'm going to have to miss you guys.
:( :o :(
My friend that I'm going with forgot that the 25th was his wedding anniversary. We had to make an emergency switch to the 24th. Luckily he's friends with the guy from TrackDaZ and worked out our switch to the sold-out Saturday.
So sorry I won't get to dice it up on the track with you guys, Rod and Nate. I guess I'll see SoCalRPM John though, since he'll be there both days.
I'll try not to tear up the pavement too badly so there's still some smooth parts for you guys to ride on come Sunday. :D

So do you still want to split a room at Buttonwillow?
I want to start making the reservation. It's a gonna be for Saturday night. Singles cost around $40 if you want your own room. Not sure how much the doubles are.
Also.......... you know how to prep you bike?
...................you know how to get there?
...................you know what you need?

Sounds like a good thing. How you getting up there?
Bike prep ar as I know involves taping all lights, removing mirrors, & securing oil filter.
How to get there? Mapquest.
What do I need? Fuck........ thas a pertty good question.......... ........... I dunno, what else do I need besides
Girls in bikinis!?

I'll start making the reservation for a double.
You should come to the "wrench-fest" thingy............... so we can go over everything you will need to do for the track.
If you can't .............. no big deal............... it's pretty much what you said above.
And...........I'm gonna truck my bike up there.

You got room for another SV in your truck?
I'll buy you a Big Mac & a small fries.
Setter32
Wed 8/14/02, 2:53PM
The truck I'm using ain't no Chevy. It's a small Toyota short bed. Maybe I can fit another skinny dirt bike on there, but I don't think another street bike will fit. Let me double check this weekend and see for sure.
Worse comes to worse, you can just ride your bike up there and we'll prep it at the hotel. It's only about a 3 hour ride for you. Buttonwillow is 2 hours north of Magic Mountain, off of the 5.
Just get a back pack and bring what ever you think you need for an over night stay, and strap an empty gas container (atleast 2 gal) on the back. You'll will need to fill it before the track, and you can store it on my truck for Sunday. I'll bring everything else, water, soda, tools, etc.....

Your tyres are way good.......... right?
It's going to be "way" hot out there........... therefore the track will be even hotter...........and if you have balding tyres......... and if they let you on the track with balding tyres......... I will guaranteeee you a low side, if you're lucky..............and a high side, if you're not.
:D

Thu 8/15/02, 7:56AM
Good question........... ....
.....hmmmmmmmmm........... Tyres.......
..........uh, they need to be changed soon, but still have life in them. About quarter inch rear and 3mm front. Thery're stock skins, so my thinking is if it's really hot out they'll be a little less likely to smear (lowside) than something gummier.
Any opinions?
Setter32
Thu 8/15/02, 9:07AM
I think that if you can still see the wear bars, you're alright......... but I'm not sure.
I think we need to ask SoCalRPM on that one........
Yo SoCal.......... any thoughts?

How many miles on them? What really kills a tire is heat cycles... If you've had the stockers for a long time, and have done a lot of short-to-medium length rides, they've been warmed up and cooled down a LOT... If this is the case, you need new ones soon... If you haven't had them that long, but ride like a maniac on many long and hard rides (i.e. you shag tires quickly), then they haven't been through the same number of heat cycles and should be fine.
Since I'm assuming you don't go to a track very often (since you've never been), I'm guessing it's option #1. Have them replaced before the track day.

Sorry about the late response. DIdn't know I was being paged.
Yes it will be hot. At least 90-95 and 100+ on the track. HOT! Bring Water. At least 1/gallon per person/per day. Spectators also. Bring Shade. If not make some quick friends (you're welcome to hang out in my shade).
Tires. DON'T GO CHEAP! It will be hot and you will be pushing your tires to their limit, but hopefully not beyond.
If you think you "might" need tires, get them.
I run Pilot Sport Race tires on my SV (Not H2s). I've done about 7 track days on them and never had them slip once. I think they many have finally had too many heat cycles. We'll see. I'm taking the Duc also in case the tires are toast.
There is a guy that sells and bust tires out there at the track. Cool Guy. Track Side I think they are called. Prices are resonable, plus the convience of being at the track. He said he has a special slick for the SV.
If anyone else has any more questions, feel free to call me at (310) 993-0468. My real name is John.
