Hey I just got a 'new' used yoshi hi exit/mount RS3 and I was wondering if anyone had pix of it mounted on their bikes.

The reason why I am asking is that I am 99.9% sure that I have the exhaust mounted corectly but I am thinking that the guy who sold it to me may have accidently included the wrong exhaust hanger b/c I can't get it to reach the stock mounting holes.

I would have to mount the hanger on the 'lower' arm of the subframe (which is higher and more in front of the stock plate where the stock hanger mounts) and this would mean that I would have to drill two small holes in the subframe.

Please help me out with any pix you can guys and gals thanks!

HMM, drilling holes in anything that includes the word frame sends chills up my spine. I wouldn't drill any holes in mine, I know that. See if you can find a mounting kit for it. Last resort, talk to a shop and see what they say about the drilling of holes. My $.02.

Burst's bike has a high mount Yosh so there might be some pics of it somewhere in the gallery here (http://www.socalsvriders.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album62&id=DSC00064_Small&op=modload&name=Photo_Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php).

I finally found the keys for my truck so I can get my digicam out of it and take some pictures at some point. Not sure if there are any pics that'll show what you are looking for in the gallery. I'll post one for you tonight.

Wait!

THanks for the quick posts. It was thankfully a false alarm.

I just had to 'wiggle it....wiggle it.... just a little bit.'

I got her all set now.

Man that yoshi sounds good. Now I just have to jet her.

I'm thinking about a TRS system in high exit. Does anybody have experience with them? Pictures? I already searched the site and didn't find anything specific about this particular exhaust.

Well a local race shop says they aren't that good, but who knows.

They look bitchin, though.

Bought the TRS system for my 03, ran it for a month and sold it (I found I really did not want to look at that can) Bought a RS-3 race Stainless and love it.

New RS-3 is a slip on, this winter a guy at Muzzy's is going to bend up a custom S-pipe for me. Then it will truly be a Yoshi highmount. The sound of the RS-3 is a wonderful low growl, just like the more expensive v-twins.

The "hottest" racing set-up is really great, ..... if your racing.

Racers/race shops are looking to create top end horsepower. To achieve their gains, they usually sacrifice bottom & and some midrange torque and general good mannered streetabliity. Coming off every stop light at 6000 RPM day in and day out gets old real fast.

I love the sound of the RS-3, I have seen no indications that it has leaned out the A/F mixture and low end torque is almost as good as with the stock pipe. Everything I paid for.

So you're saying that with the TRS you were leaving stoplights at 6k but with the RS-3 you aren't? That doesn't make sense because according to Yosh the only difference is the shape of the can.

No, not at all, I'm cautioning, it's not always best to create a race bike and think it's going to be better street bike. I have had 2 gsxr's with built motors & peaky power bands exactly like that.

I honestly believe the stock SV exhaust is near perfect. I simply didn't like aesthetics of the big can and wanted a more audible exhaust note.

Does the Yosh site mention the only option for a highmount is the full kit? When I bought mine, that was the only way to get a highmount TRS.

When I installed the TRS, the rear cylinder pipe started to turn blue (possibly indicating lean fuel to air ratio) within 2 days. I thought I maybe failed to get a good header seal, double checked and pipes had mated up well. I think remapping the ECM would be a very good idea with the full system.

In my opinion the RS-3 is noticeably louder and above 5000 RPM, definitely raspier.

I have Micron on my TLR, but I had a yoshi on my CBR a few years back, it was nice, but I think the Micron is nicer:cool:
