my 02 sv650s just got totaled by insurance. what they're giving me probably won't be enough to get another bike, so i'm gonna try and fix it. i've already put in a grand to switch in new forks. other than that i've got no front plastics, a cracked headlight, turn signal bulbs, and one mirror. does anyone know where i can find a checklist of what DMV will critique/require when i take my bike in to change the title to salvage?
also, anyone know of a headlight i can swap in without having to change the dash?

lights and switches, try to make sure it's street legal before you go to the CHP...

Basically you'l go to the dmv where you apply for a salvage title, then they'll send you to a certified place to get your lights inspected. Then you'll go to the CHP where they will make sure your engine VIN matches the frame VIN and that you've used no stolen parts (try to bring receipts). If the officer wants to hassle you about exhaust, and other crap he can.

Then you'll take the paperwork back to the DMV, and they'll give you the plates and you'll be good to go.
