Bought an LP Speedscreen V2, had it on about a week. I went for a ride and when I went to turn off the key I hit the windscreen and it just snapped. (I think it is longer than the stock one.) Has anybody experienced this? Has anyone dealt with LP as far as replacements or refunds? Also, is the Zero Gravity more durable. The LP one is really thin compared to stock. Thanx for the help.
ps-Hey Paul we need another ride to test out that camera!!!
Lockhart products are CRAP. I ordered some of their mirrors. They have got to be the poorest quality mirrors I have ever seen on a bike. My neighbor ordered a tank bra for his 929. The damn thing won't stay on the bike. Aufaber ordered mirrors for his f4i and they would not even work on his bike. Could not get the mirror at the right angle or something.
I say go with another brand of windscreen. See if you can get your money back on the lockhart. Where did you order it from?
Check their return policy.

I just got a zero gravity double bubble from cyclemall.net, and the fit is perfect, and the screen is high quality

Get the one with the flipped up trailing edge, to keep the wind off your face. I forgot what's it called.
My V2 left edge broke off after my bike tipped over at home. They're way too thin and the front edge has a gap between the shield and the fairing. I used my stock shield but I spray painted the back side black. No one ever looks thru their low windshield anyways.
I have a Powerbronze and it's good. Best built screen I've seen and tallest except for the flip up touring style. At 6'2" the stock screen flow hit me in the chest when sitting up, and I had to have my chin on the tank to get in the pocket, whereas the Powerbronze flow hits me in the face when sitting up, but just a little tuck gets me in the pocket. The optical quality leaves a bit desired, fine for riding but if you film you might consider something else.

GMAN had one on his TLR, and he liked it. I didn't really dig that funky edge glow, though.

I had the Hammerit screen on my bike. I didnt like it. Didnt fit worth crap, and there double bubble is pretty much a touring screen. Its tall! When I would get behind a car or big truck the wind would make the bike shake from side to side because of there is so much side area to it. I now have a ZG, Much Better!!
Thr Hamerit smoked color looks purple rather than just dark. But they are very thick, thicker than factory.

What is the name of the flipped up screen for the SVS? I am looking at the ZG site and don't see it.
Check out this compilation:

It's called the "Sport Touring", and it is high compared to the stock screen. I've had one on my SVS for about two weeks now. I'm tall, so I like the way it moves the air flow higher, but I think(????, maybe) the bike is a little less stable at high speeds.

Anybody use one of these? How is it compared to the stock shield?
I have the sport touring zero gravity on my 02 SVS. It moves the bubble up significantly, so when I'm sitting up the air stream hits higher, which is more comfortable for me. The increase in frontal surface area creates more drag, so there is a performance loss.
But overall, I like it.

dont get an airblade double bubble what ever you do, sure the look good when fitted but getting them to fit is another story, i actally thought i had got one for a different bike rather than the svs, it took me over an hour and a half to fit!

The zero gravity fit perfect, it only took a few minutes to install.
i have a smoke lp speedscreen in its original pakage. I got the wrong part for my skinnnnnzahh..... 40 bucks takes it. shipping not included of corse?!... let me know if anyone wants it.
yo the thickness of the screen is .25". not too bad, looks strong enough to me. maybe it wont survive a flip but seems very strong in my opinion.,.

I plan to do some long distance riding this summer, i have the stock screen and at my height of 5 feet, 9.5 inches, the wind hits me right in the throat when i'm up against the tank or at the face when i'm leaned over a little lower.
I've settled on Zero gravity as the brand, please suggest either the double bouble screen or the sport-touring screen.
cheers :D

I am also pondering double-bubble versus sport-touring screen for my 03 SVS... any thoughts? I have a friend who says he saw the ST screen on an R6 and didn't like it, but our tastes aren't exactly in line.

3 months ago, i purchased a dark smoke- zero gravity windscreen. about a month ago while cleaning my bike, i lightly rubbed over the two highest of the windscreen. the top throttle hand side of the windscreen snapped off.. POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP!!! with ease i was able to repair it to my likeing, today, before getting onto my bike, i went to wipe a bug off the top of the clutch hand side and it snapped off.. has anyone else experienced such problems with their product????????
thanks guys!

sounds like something that would happen with a lockhart phillips windscreen..I haven't heard many complaints with zg screens....maybe I should reconsider getting one.....dammit.
never had any problem with mine.

Anyone having problems with Lockhart Philips windscreens. I've had two that crack from the sun exposure. Put on a new one on yesterday evening and by 2 pm today it's already cracked.
Second one that done that. First one I thought was just due to the age of the windscreen. This one I just orders 30 days ago.
I'm pissed!

That sucks! Although, I haven't heard good things about LP windscreens. :(
Also, my Puig had a disclaimer on it about being left in the direct sun for too long...but nothing has happened yet. *shrug*

Apparently the double bubble has issues with melting guages.

Have an '04 bike, I got a F-Fabbris "double bubble" screen from ebay, seller is Rumble Imports. Man, is this screen thick! It was easy to install, only it doesn't have the slight beve for the top edge screw location hole, so the two halves of the fairing don't come together as much as the stock screen. Overall though, the quality seems to be good.
These look cool but pricey http://www.blue-matrix.net/home.html Not sure how good the copper would look but seems like it would be kinda different.

Purchased a ZG double bubble (smoke) last week for my 03 SVS, only took 10 min to install ( on my lunch break) rode it home after work. What a difference! The extra wind protection is reallly nice. Looks cool too. TIP : grease the nubbins w/ alittle soap to slide back in easier, after soap dries tighten snug.

Mine is actually a Zero Gravity second. Go on ebay and search by seller "ZGOutlet". Basically if a screen doesn't pass Zero Gravity's very strict quality control standards, they don't sell it retail. They take these seconds and sell them at about half price on ebay. I'm not sure where the defect is on mine...I think I may have identified it, but it's so tiny you don't even notice it. The only other difference is that they don't stick their Zero Gravity stickers on them, which isn't such a bad thing in my opinion. :D

Just got a Puig screen to replace my POS Phillips and Lockhart one. MUCH better. It is thick plastic like the stock one, while my P&L was thin and flimsy. Nice looks too.
Phillips & Lockhart........:finger:
Just thought I would throw out the props, thats how much better it is.

Didn't even know that L&P has windshields.
Zero Gravity double for me. I've also had a Fabbri. Either one is good. Zero Gravity is local (Camarillo) so I'd go with them first before I get something else.

does anyone have the Zero Gravity SR series windscreen????? I was looking at the double bubble but wonder if the SR would do just fine. It does look to be exactly the same size as the stock one just darker colour, am I correct???

Here is a pic of the ZG SR windscreen on my 06 SVS. Its dark smoke, and no you cannot see through it, but I can't remember the last time I actually looked through the windscreen on sportbike anyways. ;)

The Puig Double Bouble works better than the regular (non db screens). Both of my bikes have aftermarket screens and the Puig works better than the Zero Gravity. Just my observations.
The ZG SR screen is exactly the same as the stock screen except for the tint - hence the name SR (Stock Replacement). The OEM screen is noticeably thicker and more sturdy too.
I got the ZG Double Bubble which gives some added wind protection. Only problem is, I'm just the right height that the wind now hits me right in the helmet so I wear ear plugs always. I did notice some added stability, especially in crosswinds at freeway speed.

thanks for the pics guys. I see you both went dark smoke which is what I want... just can't decide if I should go SR which I think looks better on the bike or DB which may be a bit more practical .... Dooh! Silverrider can you post a pic of your Puig??
PS Rsimpson.... nothing is wrong with the stock screen but the tinted screens look a thousand times better don't you agree.....

If you really need to get out of the wind, I recommend buying a Goldwing, or a car. ;)
Seriously, I tried both and the difference between the DB and SR to me was so small it was a non-issue. I went with the better looking screen. If you are doing a lot of riding, commuting then you may want to try the DB, but then again you may want a Goldwing . . . or a car too. Look at it this way, the SR is a heck of an improvement over the naked version. :D

Mon 2/26/07, 7:40AM
Well I think you have just answered my question.... if the difference between the two is barely noticeable like you I will choose the better looking which I think is the SR it fits the lines of the bike better ..... Thanks!!!
Goldwing....NEVER!!!!!

I do agree.
I took my first longer trip this weekend (about 400 miles) and noticed the wind becoming a pain. Im 6'4 and my neck gets really tight from constantly having to fight the wind. I'm thinking about getting a touring windscreen for those longer trips...hope it really makes a difference without making the bike unstable...

I am trying to decide on what aftermarket windscreen right now and need some input. I like to tuck down when riding on freeways so would like to be able to see through the screen, dark smoke looks a little too dark - can anyone with a smoke screen let me know on the visibility - at night too.
I am thinking zero gravity - was considering double bubble for added wind protection cause I am taller (6'3") however apparently the added wind protection is minimal so will most likely go SR.
I have the factory replacement, and I love it. It is slightly taller, and has the double bouble. The other plus is that it has the SV logo on it, so it looks stock. I printed price off Suzuki website and had the dealer match the price. It only took two days to get it.

Or get the factory accessory tall windscreen, which gives you an enormous envelope to hide in... It's just ugly as hell since it's like 4" taller than stock.
I have a puig DB and am a customer for life. Just make sure if you park your bike in the sun, you have a bike cover... sometimes if the light comes in from certain angles, the screen will magnify the sunlight, focusing it on a single spot, which can MELT plastic. no BS here, it happened to my friend's R6. melted the gauge cluster.

I got the Laminar Lip windscreen for around $90 shipped. It arrived well packed with some simple instructions and was very easy to attach.
I was really getting wind slapped at speeds over 50mph. Now I ride 60-70mph with no trouble.
Laminar Lip (http://www.laminarlip.com/sv.php)
Looks good... had one of those on my Speed Four, but it didn't look as good... definitely helped a lot with the wind though...
Did you have to drill any holes?
Thanks rat.
No holes to drill... The stock mini fairing has 4 bolts, 2 of which need to be replaced. The windscreen comes with those replacement bolts. All you have to do is mount it and secure the new bolts.
Simple.
