This afternoon, I went and bought me a game called Morrow-Wind (not too sure of the spelling). Don't know how many of you are into RPGs....... but I waited for this one for a long ass time. The graphics are supposedly beyond awesome. Hope my graphic card can handle it.

Gonna load it as soon as I get home from work.

Can't wait..........

Got a chance to installed Morrowind and explore around a bit last night.

.....wow........

The graphics are .........wow.........

The sounds (ambience) are pretty cool also.

It's sorta like taking a vacation on an exotic land, ........and being able to kick a little ass on the side.

If you like RPGs, this game is a must get.

I got Morrowind when it first hit he shelves. Been waiting for that one for years. I think they have a few patches out, so you might want to install those before you get too far. One of the patches makes your old saved games unreadable.

I played it for a few weeks, but had to put on the back burner for awhile. It was really turning into a time sink for me that I couldn't afford. Great storyline, tonz of fun side quests.

For now, I just play the ol' tried and true Quake 3 for a quick 20min stress reliever, then i'm done for the night. I sit in front of 3-4 monitors at work (dual monitors rule :D) and my eyes are buggin' out by the time I get home.

With Morrowind.......... my system kept on crashing. Sometimes I can play for 3 or 4 hours before it crash. Sometimes 1 hour........sometimes 15 minutes. Do you have the same problem? I hear that the crashing problem is rampant with Morrowind.

I've updated my video and sound drivers.............no help there.

I've done everything the readme file recommends.........no help there.

I've updated the game with the most recent patch.........no help there.

Any ideas?

My system:
Win 2000 (2nd service pack)
AMD XP1600
Sound Blaster Audigy
Geforce 2 Ti
512 Mg mem

Common now Sceadu.......... give me the magic answer.

You have almost the same setup as mine.
AMD XP-1800
Nvidia Gforce 3-ti500
Windows XP (home ed)
Everything else is pretty much the same as yours.

When you crash, does it just exit straight to desktop or does it really F everything up and you have to reboot? I get crash to desktop once in awhile, but not as frequent as you seem to be getting. I save every 10mins :)

I have shadow detail pretty low. I also played around with hardware video acceleration (start->run->dxdiag; its on one of the tabs. just slide the acceleration button to the middle).

Oh, I found that connected USB devices really confuse high performance games. A USB mouse should be ok. I had a USB steering wheel connected and it crashed almost every game I had except the one I was using it with (Need For Speed:Porche unleashed). Once I disconnected that and uninstalled the drivers, my system was stable again. I also had an Amex Blue card reader and digital camera card reader cable hooked up at one time or another and it was crashing a few of the games until I disconnected them. I even went to a plain optical mouse instead of the USB version.

I'll check around my system tonight and see if there is anything else I might have tweaked.

Sometimes it would go to the desk top.

Less often, but sometimes it would go to the dreaded blue screen......and I would have to reboot.

Maybe I'll try messing with the hardware acceleration on the video.

I'm pretty much saving every 10 minutes also.

Awesome game......... but the constant crashing sure puts a damper on things.

I've been ADDICTED to MOTO GP for the XBOX. I play at work once in a while and man, is this game AWESOME. Great tracks (the real tracks used in the circuit), rider representations (Rossi, Biaggi, Roberts, Checa, Capirossi, Barros, etc. etc.) and great graphics!

I've also been playing Superbike 2001, great game too but the keyboard is a crappy interface for this game.

Warcraft III? Yep I've been playing this game too (and I even worked on it heh).

Seems like we're playing the same games, Linp!:D

Think you could use your considerable game developer studlyness to get us a SVSoCalRiders group discount on Warcraft III??:D

If it's any consolation, I actually paid for my Collector's Edition...too much hassle to get someone to buy copies for me. ;) This means you'll have to buy your own copies too, unfortunately...if I still worked there, things might be different. :-$

OK, this is a blatant plug for a company that I used to work for... darn layoffs! :)

Check out http://www.iblast.com/ and the 'Game Silo'. iBlast is a way to send out several gigs of content every day... without a modem or an internet connection of any sort. Game Silo (crappy name, IMNSHO) is tailored to avid gamers, but the content could be anything digital. In any case, they're looking for beta testers in the LA area... so go check it out! NOW! or not.
