Multiple Recipients for PMs

It would be nice if we could send private messages to more than one person at a time. Paul, I asked you about this and your suggestions don't work so I don't think the website is able to send private messages to multiple recipients.

If this would be a hassle to set up, or cost money for a different program, then never mind. But if it's doable in an easy way, then it would be helpful.

I just realized I set your group permissions wrong. You should be able to send PM to multiple recipients now. Use the "PM to buddies" option. There's a limit of about 5 or 10 people you can spam at once.

Paul, I have a couple questions on this:

1) When I send a PM to multiple recipients, do they know it's coming to multiple recipients? I think they might just see my name in the "From" box, but not know that I sent it to someone other than them. If they don't know this, can you implement that?

2) From email, we have the feature "Reply All". I think in concurrence with the above, it would be nice if someone could just hit the "reply all" option, and send their response to all recipients of the original message...

What do you think?

I addressed and implemented the first request in that when you compose a message to multiple recipients, the message body will automatically include those recipients. It is up to the composer to decide whether to leave it in the message or not.

Unfortunately, the original database didn't allow for a special field for storing multiple recipient ids. I've given it some thought, and it would be a pain and a major task to redo, or even track the recipients ids.

I think including the recipients in the message is nice because sometimes the composer doesn't want each recipient to know who else was cc'd (sorta like the bcc: in emails). If it is included, the recipients can add the list to their own "buddylist" and reply/forward appropriately.

Heh, but seriously, this is much less work for me, and *coincidentally* I think it's the best way to do it. Besides, PM to multiple recipients feature isn't used very often as far as I can tell. Lastly, it's good that it's a hassle for people to have to manually add recipients on reply to all, because way too often people reply to everybody on things that should only be addressed to a single/few people on the recipients list in emails. And that bugs me.
