Is there any way to make it 30 seconds (like barf)?

I type 100wpm at LEAST and many times I will type a decent amount but it is still in less than a minute and i find myself having to wait ... it's very ... annoying.

Man, and I thought my 70wpm was fast.

The 60 second thing is to prevent potential spammers/flamers from inundating the board with junk and potentially crashing the server. Doesn't take much to write a script to do such a thing.

I'm sure Paul has other reasons as well for setting it at that number.

I understand but most other forums are set at 30seconds which still causes it but I remain patient.

As it is, if someone wants to spam the forum, it is not that hard to alter the script to be timed for 61 seconds ... I dated a guy who sent me virtual noses kisses and had created a tickle script that sent it at timed intervals ... after awhile he made it send me random amounts at random timed intervals. At the end of 2 months ... I had over 65000 nose kisses ...

I don't hurt to ask ... right?

The default is set at 30 seconds. I didn't change it, honestly, and it seems to work well for the system I/we got. We could sure use an additional 512MB of PC2700 DDR RAM. If we do, I'd be more than happy to change it to even 20 seconds between posts.

Actually, I just checked the settings and it's always been set at 30 seconds as the "Minimum time between posts", not 60 seconds.

60 seconds between posts is for Private Messages, not public posts. These are the DEFAULT settings. So, no I didn't change anything!!!!!!!

Does the activity of PM really affect the system THAT much? (curious)

A nose kiss is when you softly kiss the tip of someone's nose ... he was just sending me virtual ones ... as he liked my nose ... a lot.

I would need to see your nose to tell you whether or not I could share any with you. :D

Yes. For ~100 users, my system is running fine. For ~800 users, it's not so fine. I pay you play, I guess.

Side effects of offering to do favors ... why do you think I stopped putting effort into the photo stuff ... it ate up more time than anything else in my life and I got diddly squat. At least you get "thank you" posts ...

If I come across anything I think will help, I'll send it your way ... ideally, you should have a second machine for this ... I don't see why members couldn't put something together ... even if just the main people put in for it, it would not cost very much.

Check out www.overstock.com

I got 512MB of PC2700 DDR SRAM off there for $79.00... I thought that was a pretty good deal, and now my computer doesn't bog down every 2 seconds (I only had 128MB before, running WinXP)...

Paul,

I got reseller's license, so my purchases are tax-free.

It's really not about the cost, heck, we got a lot of great users who have donated money, purchased shirts and stickers.

It's interesting how those who have donated the most money aren't the ones who have the highest post counts, complains, or make trivial requests. I can be biased, and easily persuaded with ram.
