Ladies and Gentlemen...........
The Dumbest Motherfucker Award goes to.....
The Guy With The Scratched-Up Shoei and The Cheap-Ass Joe Rocket Jacket! He's the only little bitch with that outfit, maing him easily identifiable to aby and all CHP officers!
Wow man, good job with that!
At the end of the broadcast, it seems he had an "incendent" with a car. Whether or not it was his fault, I think Karma is a wonderful thing.
Thanks dude, for the higher insurance rates!

People shouldn't be stunting on the roads...makes cops think we're all doing it and they tend to focus on us more.

I wonder why they keep referring to an R6 as a "superbike"...
Don't these fools know it's considered a "supersport" bike?
Jeez... :geek:
Hmmm, veddy intedesting!
Sooooo...a news station crew JUST so happen to be on the highway when all of a sudden a sportbiker JUST so happens to be riding next to them and then decides to perform a wheelie on the busy 805 highway. Intedesting indeed. Something smells here...and it ain't my upper lip.
Ok, so far we have gotten coverage for blasting up and down Palomar Mountain and now for stunting on the highway. If we keep this up, we'll surpass the rice boyz on the public enemy list.
I'm getting me a Goldwing. :D

Dude those Goldwings are looking mighty sweet nowadays...especially now that I've done the whole San Jose to L.A. thing a few times on a motorcycle now...I think I get it...bah...sportbikes are the shizzle....
Lately there have been motorcyclists out in force up here now that the weather is nicer...one BMW next to me in a lane busted out a major wheelie after the light turned green...then just today..there were three of us...myself, a new Gixxer 1000 and a CBR 1100...we were all in the front at a stoplight...don't ask me what happened but it felt like we needed a flagman around and some corner workers...heheeheeheee.
At least I'm no stunta. :squid:

After that news special...we all are.

Or rather... :(
"I wonder if they paid him to act that stupid."
Not likely, but I wouldn't be surprised. You need to consider the source of the report...WB. They might be in the same category as UPN, with the most biased, sensationalized, ratings driven stories that any sheep could find hoping to catch a glimpse of something controversial. I have no respect for the reporters, writers, or producers of such trash...feeding idiots fast moving objects, and the music to match. Hardly objectionable reporting.
"The Guy With The Scratched-Up Shoei and The Cheap-Ass Joe Rocket Jacket!"
If he is wearing a scratched-up helmet from his head colliding with a solid object, he should buy a new one. Who knows, they might have taken some sandpaper to it just the for the irresponsible effect.
"People shouldn't be stunting on the roads...makes cops think we're all doing it and they tend to focus on us more."
I agree. I got a first hand experience of discrimination from a cop who flat out told me that his brother just died on a sport bike (I was speeding about 10 mph over the legal limit in optimal driving conditions).
"I wonder why they keep referring to an R6 as a 'superbike'..."
I couldn't tell if it was an R6 or an R1. Could you tell by the sound? By watching the video, the insignia was too blurry to make out.

It looked from the headlights like an R6... I guess I can't be too sure though, it could be an older R1, with the former taillight design...
Ya, you're right, it's an R6. The ram-air scoop is between the headlights like an R6 in the video.

I myself do not have the skills/talent (description your choice) to do "stuntin" or "Squid'n", but if i did I would so long as it was in a safe area.
But many of you, seeing from your posts call any video where the guy is stunting/squiding a squid. regardless if it's in a relatively safe area (industrial park on a weekend or holiday) or the freeway during rush hour.
Now, Ill agree that doing such things in traffic is extremely foolish. But if it's 3 am on the 105 in LA, or here in eugene where the word traffic has yet to be added to the dictionary.. i see no problem seeing as the only life im risking is my own (again, if i had those skills/talent)
So why such the harsh critique of them when being done in "non-hostile" areas?
The fact is, most of these "squids" we see in videos have more skill than most of us (forgive me if you have more.. but not knowing anyone here really....) just applied in (sometimes) the wrong places.

Argh Paul! I hate when you do that!!!
Im gonna sned you a case of Bud or something so youll leave my posts alone :p
I think you're referring to this video, right? Or is there another one you are referring to?
Anyways, like what this news segment points out, there are certain places to stunt and roads with traffic isn't one of them. I would agree with you on the tremendous amount of skills it takes to stunt, and would even pay to see stunts done in a safe environment. This video shows what is considered a squid (stunting on the 805 with tons of cars around), why it is unsafe, and somewhat viable alternatives.
I'll PM you my mailing address for the Bud (the greener kind).

Anyway...to respond to your thread.....squid usually refers to "squirly-kid" or sometimes a squid is anyone who can't ride twisties. I think, in general, it is just a derogatory name given to people in the motorcycle community.
I was trying to think of something similar but all I could come up with is kook and barney, which are derogatory terms in surfing.

Because, look at the board that you're on....socalSVriders.com. If you were on Gixxer.com or another similar board, they wouldn't frown upon such acts as much as we do here.
The SV is not typically a stunter bike. It's not as light as most sportbikes and doesn't make as much power, therefore it isn't as appealing as say, a CBR900 or Gixxer, or a ZX, or etc. The SV attracts a WHOLE different crowd of riders.
However, I subscribe to your same thinking. If you wanna stunt, obviously no one can stop you. But, take it somewhere at a certain time where if you crash, the only person (and/or property) you're gonna hurt is yourself.

I love when the guy in "North Shore" asks why everyone keeps calling him Barney.
Do stunts... hit the twisties... whatever... shut up and ride...
but don't be moron enough to do an interview on the news...
Everyone in San Diego probably looks at sportbikes in a different way now. Especially because of this one guy "speaking for all of us"...
Am I the only one who noticed that it was a young punk on a sport bike doing stunts... and it was an older "more responsible" guy on a BMW saying it was stupid?
I'd like to say that something should be done to clear this up... a group ride to the WB office... a letter to them... something showing that we're not all idiots... but I'm too lazy...

I think any criticism for back road squids is generally that they aren't wearing proper gear. Or that they can't turn.
And remember, we may call someone a squid, but we don't always mean that as a bad thing.

Just my 2-cents but thats the most expensive Joe Rocket jacket you can buy Nicky Hayden (http://joerocket.com/catalog/item.cfm?products_id=165)
Lets see.....young guy ......on an R6, 1, .....wearing a joe rocket jacket, Shoei Helmet and jeans. Is he the only bitch you've ever seen that looked like that? Come down to SD. Thats "the" rider uniform! Easily identifiable? Yea he looks like every other sportbike rider I see on the road! haha
whatever
PS I wear the Cheap-ASS Jacket (http://joerocket.com/catalog/item.cfm?products_id=189) And I love it baby!!

Joe Rocket = Yikes. Every piece of gear I've ever owned by them has fallen apart at the slightest provocation. Their gear tends to carry the same structural intergrity as a Harley Davidson. And yet, at their current price point, they continue to sell like shit at a fly farm. I can't understand it. Tank god they don't make helmets, otherwise every kid would own one.
Man, it's hot today.

i only have two words to add to this thread,
natural selection :D
Have any of you guys seen the new magazine by primedia that pretty much endorses this stuff? It's called Superstreet or something like that. Don't know if I like the image it projects since about half of the people that read the mags don't even own a motorcycle. But alas I can do nothing but not by the magazine to voice my dissent. The again I wish I could do more things by not actually doing them.:D
Yeah, I saw that magazine at the stand once. They do have a lot of stunter images, but thankfully they're all taken at the track. Well, of the images that I saw at least.
