You thinking Santa Monica Mountains?
If not Friday... any day in August
Sure, I'm a newbie, but I'm game for the SM mountains - or anything else relatively close. I probably have some phone calls to make, and I probably should put a resume together, but maybe after noon?

I'd like to get back over to my side of town before traffic gets too bad. Is noon too early?
Ride PCH to Malibu Cyn to Mulhuland to Kanen (via Rock store) back on PCH
That way traffic won't be so bad.
Hey Atul,
Sorry to hear about you getting laid off. Wish that I could go for a ride with you but I don't get off from work till 7pm. If you want any WEEKEND day let me know...
Thanks for the note Xavy...
I think it may be a blessing in disguise. I was aging rapidly from working those wacky hours.
The upside is that I got a chance to ride up and down Malibu Canyon today! :D
BTW: thanks to you and some of the other guys on the GMR ride, I feel a lot more comfortable and confident in the saddle (i.e. I don't freak out at the first sign of trouble)

Atul,
Yeah, the nice thing about following riders (assuming they're not going way faster than you're comfortable for) is that it allows you to watch their lines, and if they're good, you can follow the same line, and it's good for learning...
Another note re: job hunting. When I finally got a job, I found a posting on monster.com, and instead of sending my resume with a generic (or slightly tailored to the job) cover letter, I took the requirements listed in the post, and responded to each one individually. If you find a job that you really have the experience suited for it, try it... It shows that you have exactly what they're looking for, and it might get you noticed. It got me a call-back (which isn't all that common off monster.com), and as I'm sure you know, getting a foot in the door is halfway there.

Not that likley following me, unless you need an example of what NOT to do.
Seriously we had a nice ride Up Malibu Canyon, West on Mulhuland, stop at Rock Store, back East after finding the road to Kanen closed just before the Over Look, Then down Topanga and back on PCH.
Thanks Atul for letting me be the Expert (X = Unknown Quantity SPURT=Drip Under Pressure) for the day.
Pics are in the Gallery.
It was a great day - exactly the reason I got a bike in the first place. Have some fun riding, then shoot the shit for a while, then ride some more. What an awesome day, with such little traffic.
So....
The next proposed outing is on Monday at Angeles Crest. My next door neighbor (pro Indy race car driver) is headed up there with some buddies. I'm not planning on keeping their pace, but it stands to be an awesome opportunity to learn some skills from some serious dudes. Details will follow as soon as determined.
ISN'T UNEMPLOYMENT WONDERFUL!!!

I'm down for Monday.
How do your new leather pants fit?
Unfortunately, when my idiot ex-secretary agreed to send the package from my office to my home, I just assumed she'd have it couriered the same day (Friday). As of Sunday morn, ain't got no pants.
I'm guessing she set it up for a monday delivery. Bitch.
In any case, I don't want to pass up an opportunity to ride with these guys. They are planning to load up their bikes in a box trailer, drive them up to Angeles Crest and ride from there. Sounds like these guys are serious MoFos.
I'm meeting my neighbor at 2:00, and will post info after that so anyone else interested can join us as well
