Leaking fork...

Gaaah! I was walking past my bike tonight and I noticed a shiny spot on the right side of my front tire...seems that I've been slooowwly leaking something from the right fork. The bottom part of the fork under the front axle pinch bolt was wet with oil...so my guesses are:

1) Some type of axle lube working itself down through the bottom (not very fucking likely), or

2) Damaged a fork seal when we were trying to remove my damping rods during the fork party...this would require removal of the forks and installing new seals (prime suspect) :eek: :mad: :ass: :finger:

Any other guesses, or anyone have a similar problem??

I think you pretty much hit it on the head..........

It sounds like a bad seal.

If it is a bad seal................ at least it's a cheap fix............ though a pain in the ass.

Well, if it is a bad seal, is my bike still rideable? Or will the seal just suddenly go?

damn, damn, damn...if I gotta tear down the forks again, I'll be getting the emulators this time...can you say "Fork Party"?:D

If it's just a tiny bit............. then I think you can enjoy a sunday ride with no probs.

But if it's a massive leak.............. then it's pretty much down for the count..........at least for now.

...naw, just a small leak...I guess I'll still ride it tomorrow...I mean, it must've been like this since I did the forks 2 months ago...
