Come join us for a leisurely cruise up PCH and coffee in Encinitas. Riders of all skill levels are welcome. This is a great opportunity to meet other SV-ers!

Meet 9AM at Mobile gas station 1 block west of I-5 La Jolla Village Dr. exit.

What time do you think the ride will be over? Is PCH the 101? Is this a hard ride or easy ride where we can take a passenger? Sorry for all the dumb ?'s. I just might be able to ride and I've been wanting to meet every one!

From what Paul told me, it's supposed to be an easy casual ride.

For all that don't know PCH is a very easy ride. I ride it regularly - usually a 30-45 minute ride from La Jolla to Encinitas.

Paul - I'll join everyone at 9:00 AM at the Mobil. We might consider extending it somehow depending on the numbers. Some ideas are:

- visit any of the cycle shops in Oceanside or Escondido.
- go further up the coast into San Clemente, Dana Point, Laguna Beach and beyond.
- take the road between Solana Beach and Escondido then back down the 15 to San Diego.

Any other ideas?

Sounds good to me. I have not done the PCH route before, I don't think my bike will handle another weekend of aggressive riding anyway. I gotta see if I can get a new chain before then. It is having *problems*......

It's gonna be a very relaxing cruise. If you've never been on PCH, you really should come. The view is breathtaking. Feel free to bring a passenger, but please don't just wear shorts and sandals.

We could ride up to Oceanside to check out a neat bike shop if people feel like it, or ride through Del Mar. We'll figure something out at Pannikin's Encinitas.

Awesome Gregg! It's quite a trek for you, hope I can make it interesting enough to make it worthwhile.

I'm up for it too. I rode with Greg, leigh, and the others this past weekend. Anyone in the Lower San Diego area Rt8 want to meet?

Not sure if you guys know this or not but there is a triathlon this Saturday. Solana Beach Tri. and the bike and run course spans onto PCH (101) around Via de la viade (can't say this name much spell it), the road along the race track. I think it goes for a few miles the road opens up again.

Cheers.

I am gonna have to pass on the ride tomorrow. Too much stuff to get finished up over the weekend and this ride would turn into an all day thing for me. I'll have to stick to local spots in my area if I am going to ride this weekend.

Where did you get this info? Give me a source, please. As far as I know, from Yahoo searches, the Solana Beach Triathlon happens on Sunday, 8/17.

My bad!:D
You are right the Tri. is next weekend. So I may just show up at the Mobile, I know someone who works there and he told me once of all the bikes that show up over the weekend.
So is it mostly SVs?

Ya, thanks for coming guys! It was fun cruising around. The pics (http://www.socalsvriders.com/gallery/album10) are posted. Seems that there's a lack of blue, yellow and black SV's riding... too many silvers ;)

Those are the best pics, on the link above. Only other pic is a shot of the front of the bike. To show the retro single headlight. Love that old style, Bubble fairing stuff. I also have some good shots of that bike up on Polomar. There were 2 of them up there next to each other. I'll post it here when I get home. Stay tuned! haha

Is PCH the 101?

The PCH is actually Highway 1. In a number of places, the two merge, which I'm sure is the source of the confusion.

If you ride PCH through LA, you'll be cruising Malibu. Its a great drive, and I'm told its a nice ride. I just got my bike on Saturday, though, so I can't speak from experience. ;)

The 101 cuts through the heart of the city and its a big ugly mess.

Most of my favorite roads connect the 101 and the 1 through the santa monica mountains... Hoping to find some good ones down here, once I gain some control.
