Didn't suck much.....
Wasn't great but flew by quickly with lots of action, some cheesy special effects and Sean Connery. But if you don't read, some of the literary references may allude you.

Yeah, you have to have a bit of a grip on 19th century literature to recognize everyone. I liked it, but it wasn't outstanding.

Dorian was very cool... I wouldn't go so far as to say yummy, since I am a guy after all...
I don't remember swordfights in the original story, I'll have to go back and take a look. :)

Yes, it was me, and I too enjoyed the movie very much:monkey:
1. In the original Comic books, yes, the LXG had everyone together. That was the entire point of the commics.
2. I'm not sure what literary refrences werent already blockbuster movies, so I'm not sure who wouldnt get what. The only person that some people may not get was Quartermain, from "King Solomons Mines" (Haggard)
3. I was horibly disapointed with the acting, and abismal lack of plot. Then agian, every graphic novel adaptation I've seen has reduced works of truely gifted artists and story tellers to the equivelent of an Archie comic, so I suppose I shouldnt be suprised.
Has anyone seen the actual graphic novels for men in black? Another one with some excelent writing turned into a generic will smith flick. (Nothing agianst Smith, I think he can be a good actor, but...)

Except that the comics didn't follow this particular League.
The "original story", that I mentioned wasn't the comic, though, it was "Picture of Dorian Gray (http://ibiblio.org/gutenberg/etext03/7dgry10.txt)".
BTW, I've seen two Quartermaine films... Richard Chamberlain and Sharon Stone (before Basic Instinct, when no one knew her).

Does that mean Jeff thinks that Stuart Townsend is "yummy"?

Dorian Gray and the vampire chick were my faves. But yeah... the movie was pretty terrible. The acting really was kinda awful and the plot *was* abysmal, as someone already pointed out. The sad thing is... with all of that literary fodder to draw from, it could've been so great. As it stands, I think the only scene worth noting was the fight in the library. That was amazing... then it was downhill from there, unfortunately. At least that's what I thought.

It's not bad.
You start to think anything's good when you're stuck on a plane and have seen it for the 3rd or 4th time.
By then you can actually understand the dialoge through the headsets.
Nikkita (Peta Wilson) rocks!
