Hey guys,

I just made a deal to buy a near new V&H S4 full system. I wanted to wait before I did any performance upgrades on my SVS, but the deal was just too good to pass up. It should be shipped from Cleveland on Thursday, arriving sometime next week via UPS Ground.

What other mods do I need to accomodate the exhaust? Carb rejet? K&N air filter? I need to change my air filter anyways, so now would be a good time. Do I need to sync my carbs? I bought the bike used with ~11,000 miles so I'm not sure what if anything has been done.

Thanks for the help,

Aaron

Aaron - yup, you'll need to rejet, dunno about the benefits of K&N over the stock unit (Nate?)...IMHO I would not purchase the jet kit as there are enough people out there who have done the trial and error for you...you should be able to get by with just a couple jet sizes that will cost you waaaay less than an entire jet kit.

I'm sure that you will get more help than you need just by asking on this board!

This guy has a whole deal on the S4. Everything from jetting the SV to drilling the slides.

What do yall think about the V&H S4 exhaust system? I have'nt seen or heard it in person, only sound clips(from Johns SV page). The price is definetly nice for this system, and was wanting some opinions from someone how has seen/heard it in person. Thanks alot for any tips! -Mac

My take on the Vance and Hines? Having owned a bike with a V&H system, albeit a very short ownership, I prefer the sound and pull of a yosh full system.

Besides..go to their website..and they have the word Harley splattered all over it and talk of cruisers and pictures of choppers.

I personally…wouldn’t purchase something that seemed to be catered more towards the cruiser market…but that’s just me.

an honest take on the Vance and Hines:
I rode behind one for over 100 miles on an SV. I have a Yosh RS-3. So the comparison was obvious. The V&H is a good system. Not terrible quality, awesome price. But it just doesnt sound as nice as the Yosh. Im sure they both have very similar performance. The VH just doesnt sound nice on the decel. It sounds very raspy on the decel. What would I get? Well, I got my yosh for 300$ used, a VH is 400$ new. Buying new, get the VH, the performance is there, the sound is a little lacking. Buying used? get something else.

Got one of the S4's coming myself. Hope I can tolerate the sound. Price was right, though:D
