(i have to repost this for some reason ... grumble)

Party in Huntington Beach, Sat, August 24th

I'm heading to Norcal for a few months, would like to get together with as many peeps as possible before I go.

Address:

8671 Viscount Dr.
Huntington Beach, CA 92646
714 964 1578 (house)
714 809 2116 (cell)

I can post directions later, if needed. We can also agree upon a meeting place off the 405 for those who are nervous about trying to remember/follow directions.

---

I think it should start around 4-5pm.

I don't know if it should be a BBQ, or if we should plan to attack a restaurant somewhere ... I think attacking a restaurant would be fun. Any thoughts??

I'm invited all my friends, people with bikes, people without. Don't feel obligated to make a long trek on the bike (tho' bikes are more fun ;) )... feel free to bring your significant other or a friend.

If we have a BBQ, I'll probably have people chip in to a central pot for food to help even out costs, as I can not afford to feed everyone, nor would I ask anyone else to do so. But I am really leaning towards the resturant idea. Just need to figure out which resturant.

Any how ... yeah ... this is open for discussion ...

you are asking a person who has been online since she was 12, and most of the social gathers she's ever been to have revolved around people who only knew each other online. so ... 'vat do yoo tink my answer eezz??

I don't know whether I'll make it on Saturday... Gotta figure out what's going on...

But if not, you'll have so many good roads up the in bay area that it's making me jealous...

Well I'll be there of course. I don't know if I'll have my veluptuous, blond, Swedish roommate come with me because then I can't show off my new seat cowling I got today (I haven't put it on my bike yet, but it looks really cool sitting on my desk here at work).

With a whole shit-load of people the barbeque would be easier and more social. If everyone there was going to be on bikes, then rolling out in a big pack for a place to eat would look cool, like what we did this past weekend. If it's a lot of people then finding a restaurant to accomodate everyone w/o prior arrangements will be difficult.

The last time I threw a BBQ, like 20 people said they' show and I think like 6 showed, most of which were not people I invited, but friends of Aaron ... (it was a bbq to let people meet my son and my sister, so it was a BIT WEIRD to me that he invited people i'm not friends with for that) ...

If people have resturant ideas, I can call in a reservation and then can cancel it if it seems like no one is gonna show up.

I think during the day I'm gona go to the beach and play in the water. Anyone wanna join?

restaurant ideas:
taco mesa in costa mesa
or
roscoe's chicken and waffles in long beach
both need no ressies and can handle a large group for parking and dining on a saturday afternoon

beach:
if the weather is nice, i take my dog to dog beach and swim with her...wanna go to dog beach?

ersigh
Wed 8/21/02, 10:42AM
I'd say yes except that I can't stand dogs generally speaking. I'd probably find myself wishing I had a gun if I was stuck around a bunch of dogs doing dog things ... :monkey:

Good luck up North.

Every time I ride the Crest at a reasonable rate of speed, (like every time), I'll think of ya.

I'm not familiar with either of those resturants, so I'm a bit timid about commiting to go to one (i'm picky). I was thinking something a bit closer than Long Beach tho'. Freeway traveling with cars and bikes involved would suck ...

BBQ might end up being a better idea, because it seems like some people won't be able to make it til' later in the evening anyway.

oh you'd love roscoes!
fried chicken and waffles...you have to like at least one or the other...and they have the best mac and cheese too
plus they have this HUGE parking lot that is only crowded on sunday mornings after church
and they have a jazz club next door for those who would want to stick around for evening fun
OOOOO...we could take you out for an evening thing to wish you a fond farewell...long beach is fun at night...jazz, blues, salsa, dj...there are so many fun places to go

or whatever

i'm just rambling now ;)

Any industrial/darkwave clubs? I've had little luck finding any not in Hollywood.

Believe it or not, I don't like fried chicken or waffles...

We'll keep roscoes as an idea, and when people show up on Saturday, we'll see what people want to do. If that doesn't work, it's something we can plan for in the future.

I was considering going dancing later in the evening @ sharks club off bristol/baker off the 405. It's not a super great club, one room has R&B and the other has techno ...

I suspect after spending the day cleaning up this house (grrr), by the time people show up, I'm going to be tired enough I'm not gonna wanna do much besides hang out and burp loud. :D

Christ, Leigh, if you WEREN'T burping loud we'd all probably freak and rush you to the hospital:grin: I thought we all took your loud expulsion of gas as a given.

LOL

hehe.

I think I must have some social nervousness I don't notice, cuz' I don't really burp when I'm alone ... I definately burp a LOT more when there's people around. I don't do it for attention tho' ... so I have no idea. It might be that i"m more likely to eat foods that cause burping when I'm around other people ... ??

Hmmm.

Or maybe I burp when I'm alone and just tend not to notice as much ...

lol

(i'm making myeslf laugh)

So how was the party...sorry I didn't see it beforehand, so I was a bit in the dark about you leaving and all, otherwise I would've tried to go down.

How'd you do selling your stuff? What kind of job are you getting up north? Something cool, I hope...

:D

ersigh
Sun 8/25/02, 11:22AM
All the stuff I put on ebay sold. I just put several more things up ... (my hein geriecke leather pants, canon A2 body plus lenses etc, and my second laptop) they are more expensive items than the previous ones, I doubt they'll sell right away.

I will be working for one of my previous employers doing basically the kind of work I hate the most ... sitting in front of a computer, going thru paperwork and creating spreadsheets. I'm hoping that he'll send me out to do tech work on occasion, as I did before (when i worked there previously I was the Office Admin, doing payroll, invoicing and taxes etc ... but I was also the 2nd tech, going to client sites and what not) ... to give me some sanity. He thinks that if I work full time, the project will take me about 3 months ... I am hoping that he is over estimating the amount of time it will take based on his the fact he's gotten used to the speed of the person currently doing the invoicing (that would be my exhusbands fiance soon to be wife). I want to be away from NorCal BEFORE Dec. It is possible that if the project isn't done, I may leave for the month of Dec... and come back after.

I'll probably be able to pick up some work from clients I had up there before I moved. Which will help the fact that I'm taking this project, accepting a lower hourly rate than I got paid before I moved. :|

Cross your fingers that my bike is out of the shop before I leave ... my bike will be my main source of sanity while I'm there.

I am going to come back down for the Gathering of the Masses. As far as I know, there should be nothing stopping me.

Hey Leigh,

I just wanted to say thanks for having me over to your party! I had a really good time... and it was cool how many different types of people you are friends with!

I'm sure we're all going to miss you once you head up north. But you'll be back from time to time.

I'm really glad you made it. I had no idea you were even thinking about coming, so it was a BIG SUPRISE!! :)

I was talking to Aaron and Jeff today about how diverse my group of friends are. It is actually LESS diverse than it was when I lived in Northern California, because now I actually have an interest that I share with others (motorcycles).

The only complaint I had was the person I'm interested in seemed more interested in someone else ... but oh well, that's usually the way, isn't it? 8-}

Don't you have to be black to go to a place like that? Just kidding..man that's a combination for you, chicken and waffles. <GACK!> :-&

I hate waffles, but I love fried chicken, and I am indeed related to a black person (according to the new Out Of Africa theories which are taking hold more than ever).

Sorry, Leigh. My roommate kind of does that to men.
