View Full Version : Introduction
I've been lurking for a few months but thought I'd introduce myself now that I have finally made the move to California.
I just moved to San Diego from Alexandria, VA where eneryone I know is suffering through 100 degree temps with 90% humidity :p . I've had my SV for about 2 years and I'm still crazy about it. The bike is still completely stock except for the mirrors. I'll most likely change that soon. I haven't had time to do much rideing since the move but I am seriously looking forward to discovering a bunch of new roads.

Nice to meet you James. I'm sure you will get lots of riding in now, I'm north of you but I hear there are alot of nice roads down there in SD. And you got lots of company there. Enjoy riding year round!:D

You'll have to go to Palomar, it's one of a kind. Some love it (like me), others hate it.
Welcome James!
I have to agree with Kurt about Palomar. You either love it or hate it. I happen to love riding Palomar, it is actually my favorite place to ride.
Keep checking the rideouts/events section. Some of us get together for rides almost every weekend.

I lived in Alexandria about 2 years ago too! Foxchase apartments (sorta close to old town) and took the metro to DC to work everyday. Weatherwise, can't beat SD!
There are a lot of fun roads here. Are you free to ride on weekdays?
Thanks for the welcome.
I can't wait to give Palomar a try. I've heard alot about it and Angles (sp?) Crest from friends who used to live here. My bike was just delivered along with every thing else I own and I need to give it a good once over before I'll be comfortable rideing it. Hopefully, I'll get that done on Saturday. Sorry I missed the wrenchfest.
I will be able to ride on week days once things settle down a bit. I work on contract for the State Department and am currently telecommuting so my schedule will be very flexible once I prove the concept to my old-school managers.
I know where Foxchase is. I was in a tiny town house right on the south-west edge of Old Town. Biggest advantage there was being with in stumbling distance of Ireland's Own and several other fine establishments. You're right about the weather Linp, the traffic here isn't nearly as bad either.

I suspect you mean Angeles Crest (As in Los Angeles)... Its part of highway 2 up north of glendale...
I recommend coasting it in a car at about 2 am, because someone gave you bad directions and you're about to run out of gas... a very interesting experience, lemme tell ya.
I have friends who loved the crest... just be on the look out for high police activity due to the high number of motorcycle rider deaths up there. (and watch for parked snow plows... ugh)
