Okay... I did a search and didn't see anything on this... why is my post count so low? I know I have posted more than 20 times (in the word association thread alone)... any ideas?

Posts in off topic threads don't count.

yeah... my off topic post count is about 3 times my on topic...
is there a way we could get a tally of off topic posts to display separately in the profile somewhere? Just for giggles of course.
Posts in the "For Sale/Wanted/Trade" classifieds, "Biker Babes/Hunks", "Testing" as well as some other forums don't count either.
Someone suggested that the "Post Count" not to be shown in order to discourage post whoring.
I took the advice, and that's why it's no longer shown on posts and profiles. Top-10 posters aren't listed in the Member List either.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooo! :p LOL!!!
So is there a point to having a Post Whore award at the Gathering, then? And why keep up the CB post count? People are already whoring in there so their post count goes up. Who cares how much you post in there anyway?
You know who else eliminated post counts?
Thats right.. Nazi punks.. thats who..
CB Post Count is displayed because I am encouraging using the CB. I hope the ChatterBox would take a lot of "noise" posts out of the forums -- chatter that not everyone needs to see. Save the more important ideas for the forums.

Yea BOOOO!!!!! to that, why does someone care how much "post whoring: another person does anyway??? It's keeping the board fresh and active.
Paul, I say dont take that advice.

I  you evil. :D
The post whoring seems to have spiked in the last couple of weeks. It had never bothered me before, but recently its been over the top. I say good call on dropping it for a while.
I occasionally found the post count worthwhile, just so I could guage how active a member was if I didn't recognize the name, so it would be nice if we could get it back eventually.
It's still there if you'd like to dig through the html source.
Hehe! Post count goes BOOM!
Hmm, now to find another gathering reward to replace the one that Jeff and Kurt were running against each other for. lol

I agree- post whoring was getting out of control with a few individuals ( you know who you are :raise: )
For those of us who don't have all day at work to keep up with the threads, the extra posts sure make it more burdensome.

And you should have gotten, too. We'll still have the two Whore categories at the gathering because the trophies are already made, plus it's a funny award (I also want to win something).
If you want to see a person's post count you can just look them up on the member list, it's still listed there in the far right side column.

Because it takes a long time to read "I agree" or "that was funny"? Maybe for a 4 year old. :raise:

Yeah, I tried. :( :D
Ah, so the whore award will still be given out, cool. No need to find a replacement category then.

ya..well..since post count doesn't count anymore.
aside from the biker babe crap, at least I tried to at least stay on topic, not just shoot off random comments for the sake of adding to my post count.
Kurterator note: That is true.

Yeah, I've thought that a few times... But at least I know that Kurt and Jeff are way worse than I am :D
I kinda liked the post count to see how active someone is and why I haven't seen them before and if it was low as an explanation for when someone posted something really lame and newbieish

I had to search to find this out, but I now have officially been passed by Jeff... I am down to 3rd place... (with 3000+ posts)...
how do you search for post count?

Go to Members, Advanced Search, then Top 10 Posters.

Would it be possible to modify the post count to reflect the post count for the month (as opposed to total since registration). I have found that I miss the post count when trying to judge the trustworthiness of advice and good for sale. I think that this would give a sense of activity and still help to minimize teh post whoring.
Also, it seems to me that the CB post count is a useless number.

CB post count has been changed to display the number of crashes you've had :) You can update it in your Profile (http://www.socalsvriders.org/forums/member.php?s=&action=editprofile)
Clicking on a user's profile will show you the date that they've registered in case you'd like to know the newbishness of that user.

I'm guessing falling over at greater than 5 mph or so...
If it's not a "drop", and the bike is on the ground, that's a crash :D

I agree. I liked looking at a membres post count for many reasons.
I understand post whores have to be put in check, but then again some of the Post whore posts are sometime amusing.

Maybe we could at least show the post count in the user's profile.
