Hey guys,
Have I got an event for you. This is for anyone in the Los Angels, CA area. Actually, if you are within a 3 hour ride you will want to participate. Warner Brothers Studios is doing a promotional event for the movie "Torque" starring Ice Cube, Jay Hernandez, Jamie Presley, Monet Mazur, Fazion Love, Matt Shulze, Adam Scott and Max B. There is going to be Live bands, cash prizes, food, raffle give-aways, like TV's and VCRs, celebrity appearances, a bikini contest and a wet t-shirt contest. It happens on saturday Sept. 21 from 12 noon till 9 pm or so. They need 1000 motorcycles there for the event. If you've ever been to an event like this you won't want to miss it and if you haven't you still won't.
Here's what you need to do to participate.
Send me an email with the following information:
Name
Age
motorcycle brand, year and model
email address
phone number
I'll contact you with a location in a couple of weeks. Also, do not commit to this if you aren't 110% sure if you are going to show up. So, tell all your friends that ride. It doesn't matter what kind of bike they have as long as they show up. You will be check in, if you name is not on the list, you don't get in. So spread the word and let's have a party. Oh, and you would be helping me out because I get a bonus for every 100 bikes I get to show up. Also, the bike doesn't have to be legal or ridable, you can trailer it there and it will just be on static display.
Thanks.
Chris Stumpf

P.S. please no responses to the board or via PM, email only. Thanks.

Sorry for the need for info, but due to security imposed by Warner Bros., no one will get in that is not on the list. That and only those on the list will be getting the location information. So, we need a way to contact you. This info isn't going to be sold or anything. The only people that will see it will be myself and the casting company.

Hey guys, I wanted to thank all of you that have signed up so far. I also wanted to tell you that I've got a little over 50 bikes signed up. I only need 950 more. Please tell all your friends and anyone that you know that rides about the event and how to sign up. It is going to be a kickass good time, but only if we have enough of you. Thanks.

Out of curiousity ... what is the party for? My friend who works on the set said that he thought it was basically a way to get a lot of bikers in one place, without having to pay them for being there ... not that I think anyone would seriously mind. hehe.
When is the cut off date for signing up? I may look into being there for it, if possible, but I won't know until maybe a week before if it's possible.

it almost sounds like this is a pre gathering of the masses.
Except greg wont have to front the money.
I might go ... but do we have to stay the whole nine hours. I lose interest real fast, especially when i could be riding GMR.
What did they tell you guys?

All Chris said was that he would e-mail the details in a few weeks.

Hey guys,
I still need 24 more riders to sign up. Please contact me asap if you want to go. As for more details, the location is in Victorville and the time has changed to 7 am. Sucks to start that early, but nothing I can do about it.

7 am! #-o Well shit. How far of a ride is Victorville from OC?
Well, mapquest says it is 80 miles from my place..... I don't think it is accurate but I am sure it is somewhat close to that.
7am is gonna suck. Tho, it is out in the desert so the earlier the better. Who wants to roast in the sun through the hottest part of the day anyway?

Ugh! Do we have to be there when the doors open?
Ouch! 140 miles of slab before 7:00 is gonna be tough. Typicaly, if I'm on my bike at 4:30 am it's because I'm finishing a ride not starting one.

Well we may not be ridding during the hottest part of the day, but we'll still be there out in the heat. I may enter that wet t-shirt contest just so I can get sprayed with water.
For those of you riding up from San Diego, you might be able to stay the night at my place Friday so you don't have to get up so early on Saturday. That is if you're a lady and single;)
that last part was a joke, don't accuse me of sexual harrasment

Is sexual harrasment a bad thing?
I keep hearing about this stuff in the workplace ... why do you think I'm trying so hard to get a job!!
:D
We actually had sexual harrassment training a few months back. It can't be a bad thing if your company actually teaches you how to do it, can it?
Hmm...I'd like to check this Torque party thing out, but I may have to work - or at least be on call - that weekend. Hope to know for sure soon.

Just got the message... It's out at Lake Piru. Same godawful time 7am.
I could host maybe 1 or 2 people who don't mind sleeping on the floor in my tiny 1 bdr. appt.

Dammit I have to be in my friends wedding that weekend.:( Well... at least I'll be in New Orleans... That should be party enough for me.:D
Is this thing still supposed to be going on until 9pm? Looks like I have another party I need to be at that afternoon/evening.

I'm sure you can take off early if ya want... He said they want people there when it opens, 'cause they want to film folk riding in...
If it thins out at the end they'll probably just cover for it with more wet t-shirt contest footage. ;)

I've got friends up in Simi; at least one is going, so I'm gonna crash at his place the night before. Possibly head out the 23 through moorpark and out to the 126... there's a sandstone cliff that makes up a chunk of that route, should be an interesting ride on the bikes.
Seems like some people are boycotting this event. I heard the producers are paying whoever that can bring 100 bikes $5000 for the movie shoot. Basically, if you go, you are unpaid extra, but Chris makes some dough. Is that true, Chris?
Anyways, still seems like fun for peeps near the filming location. I'm having second thoughts about making a 300+ mile round trip to be an unpaid extra on the sit-and-wait-with-wet-t-concert movie set.
Yeah, I read on another forum that one of these *promoters* was actually paying peeps to show....
I am not sure if I want to make that trek I would have to leave my house at like 4:30AM to get there on time. Fuck that.

Wed 9/11/02, 4:10PM
Not only are you unpaid, and 300+ miles but you have to be there by 7:00am! It was originally 12:00pm-9:00pm, in LA. I was one of the first to apply. But damn!
I just found out I am leaving for NYC on the 20th for a week due to my job.
You Guys have FUN!! Take pictures and post em!

That's 162 miles one-way for me......and you have to hang around for like 12 hours? Pffftt.
There's another movie being filmed right now (Biker Boyz) that actually PAYS the extras

I don't know why people started worrying about the pay... His post never even suggested that we would be paid, and he was straight with us about him getting a bonus for bringing in a number of bikes.
I'm not going for the money, I'm going to hang with bikers at a biker party type thing. If I end up in a movie, I'm not going to complain that they didn't pay me; I'm gonna pre-order the dvd and post vid caps to my web site. ;)
If my digital camera will stop eating batteries after 5 photos (unfortunately, no hyperbole there), then I'll try to post some pics of the day.

btw, if you have a cruiser, novelty bike, or something olde, then let chris know and they might pay you to bring it out. Apparently there were such an overwhelming number of sport-bike riders that they're paying $100/each to 5 friends of a friend to bring out their hawgs.
My friend is trying to work something out for his dad's rd400.

He was part of an earlier call for extras (http://www.socalsvriders.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=484), so he got paid.
Most people at the party on saturday aren't being paid; just folk with unusual bikes or cruisers to balance out the overwhelming number of sport bikers.

Was cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon. I saw a silver SVS with a fun bike center license plate frame, but I didn't get a chance to talk to the rider.
We got there at 6 and I took off at 1. Most of the day (once they sorted us out and took us to the set) was spent watching three stunt riders (on gsxr's; 2 750, 1 1000) go up and down this little street doing stopies, wheelies, surfing on their tanks, dragging behind their bikes and lots of burn outs...
My favorite trick was when one rider on a silver gixxer ended a stopie right in front of me... I'm thinking "cool"... but then a guy on a yellow gixxer drops out of a stopie right next to him... so I'm thinking "very cool"... then while the first rider is still balanced, the guy on the yellow gix burns out and orbits the silver ... was just awesome. Too bad that was just the rehearsal; I hope they had footage of that for the film.
The guy on that yellow gixxer was *really* good.
BTW, we learned that dragging behind a gsxr 750 doesn't require throttle lock... choke it in 3rd gear.
It was exactly what I hoped it would be... I got to hang with bike people, watch some cool stunts, eat some free food and I guess we'll find out in a few months if my bike or I made it to the final cut. I'm looking forward to seeing it when it comes out, if only to find out what the setup was for all the stunts.

Jason was the standout stunta (I think the guy G_E was refering to). The thrid guy was a little shakey and I think has a bigger part in the movie... ("Yah, I can do stunts!... just learned to ride a weekago.. but...")
Didn't win the GIXXER 750 they were giving away.

I was riding my black ZX-12R and didn't get a chance to talk to any sv riders.

Yeah, Jason was the guy on the yellow gsxr. Dale was on the silver (buzz cut), and I believe the blue rider was named Mark (black bandana, gsxr jacket).
I hear the guy that won already has an '02 gsxr 750, so he's declared that he's going to use this new one as his stunt bike and just destroy it.
I was there with one other sv rider, and there was the stray silver. He was parked in front of the Blue... something... Blue Bird? Center of the street, across from the aprilla tent, right in front of the bleachers.
My friend's blue SV was downhill from there in the shade (lucky bastid), and my silver one was just up the street... It was right next to the blue gsxr; so I'm sure you know exactly where I'm talking about. :D
(Actually, it was next to one of those spooky yellow dancing balloon guys).
I was there too. Only remember seeing one silver svs and one blue svs. I was clear down by the bridge with all the harleys and stuff. It was fun watching the stunt riders. Got some GREAT photos that I will be posting soon.
