the shock is hardly used. Its in Great shape. It looks brand new. i bought off ebay for $55 with shipping a few months ago. im just looking to get my money back.I was going to install it but im to heavy for the spring rate and its going to cost to much to get it up to the performance level i want, so i decited to sell it to one of the socalsvers. email me if you are interested: jharts5827@aol.com

What's the spring rated for?
I might be interested.

i talked to race tech about it and they said for about a 185 lbs rider, if you install the shock in a sv.

Not true, unless the spring came off an SV. The stock GSXR spring is about 330 lb/in, and the stock SV is around 600-650 lb/in. The linkage on the GSXR is a lot different, needing a lower rate spring.
Anyone who buys this, needs to get a new spring from Race Tech ($100), and needs to take it in to a performance shop to get the shock revalved for the new spring ($100-150). I knew places in the bay that did this, but haven't found any down here yet. Either way though, it'll be a lot cheaper than even a Penske or Fox shock, although it'll compromise some of the adjustability (not much though if set up close to correct at the shop)...

PS - if anyone knows a shop that will re-valve it, let me know.

So you can't stick the SV spring on it?
Why not, is it a different diameter?
And what about simply re-valving the stock SV shock, is that possible?

the spring sizes are different. they are not interchangeable. the sv shock cant be revalved but the gsxr one can. that makes it attractive to sv owners wanting to upgrade the rear shock at a reasonable cost.

Are you sure the SV shock can't be revalved? I'd imagine it could, but it would only be necessary if you got a new spring due to weight...
The main advantage of the GSXR shock, I think is that it's adjustable. The reason you need to revalve it, is that with the stiffer spring the range of adjustments is totally out of whack with the stock valving, and the stock valving with the new spring is totally wrong. You need to be in the ballpark of the correct valving for the spring rate, and then you can use the adjustability of the shock to fine-tune it. At least, that's my interpretation of it... Someone let me know if I'm wrong here.
