We all assume that in an altercation between bike and car, the car will de facto be the "winner"... In cases like this, there's no winner... That motorcycle, to end up destroying a car like that, must have been traveling in triple-digit speeds. Although it probably only weighed 400 lbs, it was narrow enough to apply that 400 lbs * 100+ mph into a small surface area, and just punch right into the car...
Judging the speeds that rider must have been going, and the fact that it looks like it was in an intersection, I have to fault the rider here. It's possible the car pulled out in front of him, but at any reasonable speed this damage wouldn't have been done... All I can say is... :squid:
Brad
notice the riders head/helmet sticking out of the roof? ouch.

I'll have to agree with Brad on all that stuff about lbs of pressure and the like (because I couldn't fallow what he was saying). But what I could understand was that, yes, the rider was probably doing a stupid speed down a city street.
Even though cars hit us more than we hit them, this shows that motorcyclist still need to take responsibility for their actions.
Don't ride with your head up your butt.

i dont think its through the the roof, its just on top of the roof. see that fat trail of blood..?,
it appears as if it was taken clean off,
that is maybe supposed to be the impactual aspect of this pic.
poor bastard... :(
If you look at the way the sheetmetal is wrinkled, it suggests the riders body is actually wrapped up in it all. Up around the top right side of the helmet looks as though his neck/upper body got wrapped up when his body impacted the vehicle. Notice though, his lower body is still on the bike..... ewwwww

Also notice behind the cop in the tan uniform holding a flashlight, there appears to be the foot and leg of the cage driver under a white sheet. Probably got blown out the drivers door from the impact of the bike.
I think that respect should be given to the users of this forum when on the topic of wrecks and unsettling pictures, just as given in the case of nudity etc etc ... a warning should be put in the subject saying something besides a vague "oof" ... not everyone wants to view this stuff at work, or may not want to view it at all ...
Having said that, it doesn't bother me at all ... I'm just thinking of others.
