Hey peeps,

Here is a vanity video of a lap and a half at Thunderhill from the camera of a ZX6-R...I went off track once (and inserted the obligatory red flag video clip). It's a nice quality video, tho a bit large at 102mb, but you all have bandwidth to kill, doncha?

Note that this was my second day ever on a track (2 day trackschool at STAR).

Lemme know what ya think, or if ye have suggestions, comments, etc. :D

Nice work Nuke! The dual sport action when you went off track was a little nervous (I did the same thing on a ride last weekend, so I can relate!) but it looked like you were getting some good lean! Another track day and you'll be scraping knees ;)

you needed those tires from MI2 that changed into knobbies when you went off the track

LOL! Yeah...the off track was a bit freaky bit luckily it was easy enough to get it under control in the dirt...that was my one of 2 off-track excursions as I got faster 2nd day. All 3 of us guys in the group went off track...but no crashes (whew).

Yeah I suspect if I did another day I might get scrapage...but even that lean was more than I'd ever done on the street...so it took some getting used to, but the M1's felt great. :D I did scrape a foot once but that was because I didn't have the balls of my feet on the pegs like I normally do when riding through twisties on the street. :D

Thanks for checking it out. I know it's a big download..but what nice, clean video eh?

Is there a reason why I can't view this in Media Player? I downloaded it using "Saved Target As" and all I get is audio. What am I doing wrong?

Hiyaz...not sure why you can't view it....is your Media PLayer up to date? I don't recall using any fancy codecs for this...it should work. Good luck...

Nice video. That track looks fun, kinda reminds me of Buttonwillow.

It's a great track! :) Only one I've been on though, so what do I know heh..but really..it was great. 5 blind turns on it tho. Seems pretty safe as well...one of the safest in the country.

Well as blind as it seemed, it beats the blindness caused by a rock wall or dense foilage in the canyons.

unless you're going through the 12-13 esses @ 80-100mph (guys doing sub 2min.) buttonwillow is safer IMO. if anything, all you hit is I-5 :D

thill isn't really anything like BW. they go the opposite direction (thill counterclockwise, Bwilow clockwise) also thill is alot faster than BW cause there's alot more straights (3 major straights). it's a longer track yet track times are very similar to BW.

the bling turns aren't that bad. the good thing is they're obviously predictable unlike the street so you just need some reference markers to know what comes up next and what to prepare for. :D

Yah I love tracks for their predictability (unless there's a rider and her bike in the middle of the track..DOH!)

But that aside...very safe...much more confidence inspiring than the street and I made sure to use those 2 days to really practice new techniques....I improved a lot just with those 2 days....and anyone considered a track school...DO 2 days!! One day isn't enough...everyone was right...by the second day you're just warming up and THAT's where you learn the most, I think. Plus, it helps to get to know the track a bit.
