What do you use your motorcycle for? My bike is simply a big toy and I only ride it on the weekends to some far off canyon or mountain road. I know Guzzigirl owns several vehicles but still always rides to work on her SV. So what do you all do?

For the time being the cage has found it's final resting grounds... maybe I'll have whored enough to be able to either get rid of it or fix it for another 2 months...POS....

I commute on my bike because it is a stress reliever, and it's more economical. I canyon ride when family commitments and such allow. So, it's a workhorse and a toy.

BUT, I was a car nut long before I ever got into motorcycles, I will always love cars. I look at the difference between hitting a curve on a bike and hitting a curve in a cage as two sides of the same coin. It's like when you were a kid, and you'd get on the spinny wheel toy on the playground. Some kids lean out, and some kids lean in. It's all fun.

I use it to commute everday to work. The only problem with this is...I am stuck with perpetually bad hair!

Well, that's one advantage of the "high and stupid" Marine Corps haircut. I don't get helmet hair.

It used to be my only vehicle, and was at that time more workhorse than toy... Now I have a truck and live so close to work that there is no gas efficiency advantage or traffic reason to bother getting suited up on the bike, so it's become pure toy...

Of course, lately it's been more of a garage ornament, but I need to correct that... I don't think I'll even be able to ride until the track day though :(

Mine has become pure toy, straightening out twisty roads, riding up the coast for breakfast overlooking the ocean..., Big Sur sounds pretty good right now, how long until Saturday?

That option about not knowing if your car runs is perfect for me. I put 4100 miles on my SV in 3 months, and now I have to park it. I actually had to do a lot of work on my car to get it ready for winter duty. It did get washed about 4 times without even moving to keep the parking police from getting suspicious . . .

I ride my SV more often than my car because it's easier to navigate around town and find parking. Parking at the college is a LOT easier on the SV, and the chicks think it's cooler ;) It's also more fun to ride!

My car is plenty reliable (1998 Civic) but it has been much neglected since the SV has come along. I use it mostly for grocery shopping runs or when the rain comes out.

Yup, Helmet hair can be a bad thing if you're work'n people all day... Oh well, that fact that i ride a bike all the time justifies "The Bad Hair Day".

throw your head under the sink and rub some gel into it..that's what i do.

or you can just shave your head..that's the easiest.

I covered up my car sunday, so that is an official riding to work everyday mentality. I've never ridden more than twice in a week before to work.

I don't ride to work, to ride to work. I ride to work for the ride home. I cut through rancho santa fe..which as long as there are not any cars in front of me..can be a relaxing, easy fun ride.

But..going through sorrento valley at 530 in the morning..I was FREEKIN FREEZING!!! I felt like the back of my head was going to fall off and my vents were even closed!!

Definantly a toy. I ride it to Palomar, beat on her some then ride her home. Pretty much the only time she sees any place else is on group rides or on the track.

My SV1000S has mainly been a workhorse. I commute on it 44 miles each way from Diamond Bar to El Segundo, CA. This commute was long and boring in my Miata and the trip home was more frustrating as I was blinded by all of the pickup and SUV headlights for the entire trip back. The SV1000 has made the commute faster (by 30%) better fuel economy (by 50%) and a greater fun factor (by 1000%). The SV's performance has completely ruined the pleasure that I used to get driving my Miata. The Miata now feels slow, (still) underpowered (more than before) and dangerous in the curves (the Yokohama tires are soft for a car, but feel rock hard in comparison to the Pilot Sports on the SV).

I'd love to say it's my workhorse but between living in the northeast and having an eight and ten year old, I'm just happy with bringing it to work any day there's less than 30% chance of rain.

I'm still thinking that I should have used AOB (Achey Old Bastard) instead of NJersey...
