SD Ride, Saturday 9/7

We're planning on a ride 8:30AM, Saturday, 9/7. Meet at the Mobile gas station 1 block west off I-5, La Jolla Village Dr exit.

Plan:
I-15 Pomerado Rd Exit, on to Highland Valley Road
Pass through Ramona, and on to Old Julian Highway
Go north on Hwy 79 up the fast side of Palomar
Meet others at Mothers (should put us there around 10:30AM)
Down the tight side and return to I-15 through Valley Center Rd

Ok, I really want to make it to a ride/even one of these days, but I already have plans to go to Street Scene this weekend. And I'm getting a hotel room downtown Friday night, so I don't think I'll be in any shape to ride Saturday morning. :zzz: :-& Oh well, I guess there's always next weekend, right?

:D Killer!!!! I'm going to the scene too! Gotta see Social D. Have a little fun!!:evil: Get up early and ride!!!!!! I'm also riding with a group on Sunday. We usually ride every weekend. Somewhere around 200 miles or so. Palomar, Cuyamaca, Tecate, Del Dios, Telegraph, Etc. We meet up at the Starbucks at 76 and College (next to Wal-Mart) around 8:30AM. Have to get out there early to beat Johnny Law and the heat. Late.:cool:

Well, since the weather here in SD sucks ass. I am not going to Street Scene. Which means I will get plenty of rest and be up at Palomar bright and early tomorrow morning. :D

Depending on the weather, etc., etc., I may show up with a friend (currently an ex500 rider; looking for a trashed sv to turn into a streetfighter).

I'm sure I'll be going much slower than the rest of you, though, as this would be my first time up palomar. My friend and I will probably keep our own pace and see you all up at Mothers.

BTW, any tips for my first trip up the mountain?

Since it's your first time, go real slow. There are a bunch of decreasing radius turns that you will think are ending but are just gonna get tighter. Up near the top, there are a bunch of tar snakes that could be slippery if it's hot out. Take it easy on that part. Don't let other riders make you ride outside of what's comfortable for you. Keep to the right and let them pass.
And last but not least, have fun.

Turns out my friend isn't gonna leave until tomorrow morning. He's in LA, so I don't blame him for wanting sleep before the ride... I did that last weekend in the heat; ugh!

Still may see some of you up there in the afternoon or sunday maybe.

Not looking good. It's been raining here for awhile and it's forecasted to rain at noon. Might be too much gravel on the road from the rain.

Bah. The weather last night wasn't bad. It rained a couple of times downtown, but it was warm all night. Live and STP both had great shows. Ok, so I missed all but the last 15 minutes of STP's show, but it was a great 15 minutes! :)

I'm bummed I missed out on riding, but since I'm home from Street Scene for a couple of hours, I might have to go for a little cruise. :)

My friend made it hear with a dying clutch that we couldn't find parts for, so I never made it up to palomar... Did carry my first packer, though. Too bad it wasn't a hottie.
