So my beloved mother sent me the new "wierd al" cd for christmas. Being my childhood hero and all, it was an appropriate choice.

I have always enjoyed "wierd al's" parodies...his origonal songs can leave something to be desired most of the time. He does however have a song titled."Bob" where he obviosly is making fun of Bob Dillon. He is singing like him, and just rambling on, nothing associates with anything, but he makes it work..somehow.

On this new album he makes parodies of Eminem, Nelly, Avril Levine, Billy Joel, and the Back Street Boys.

All of the parodies, with the exception of Nellies are funny as crap.
Nellies may be, but I havent heard the origonal song, so Im not sure what exaxtly he's makin fun of.

The other 4 are great. "Wierd Al" is a lyrical genius. He really knows how to do it.

My Fave is the Backstreet parody, where it's (I bought it on)"Ebay" instead of (I want it) "my way".

Would I recommend buying the album???? Well, I got my money worth:D

Interesting fact: Al Yankovic graduated high school as Valedictorian at the age of 16, he then got his college degree in arcitecture. Quite a bright guy.

you forgot to mention he got his degree at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and recorded his first song in a bathroom across the hall from the radio station on campus where I have gone to the bathroom in.

I just liked his VH1 "Behind the Music" special...

He started off by mentioning that he doesn't drink, smoke, or do drugs, has had no sordid sex scandals, and absent all that, wasn't sure what the show would be about :D

I like weird al, used to be really into him (in my younger days) and now as I'm a bit older and listen to broader scope of music I can go back and really appreciate some of his parodys which I had never heard the origional versions as a 13 or 14 year old or however Old I was, btw I saw him at the Oc fair grounds... oh 3 or 4 years ago? For some reason I always get lucky with the bands playing there , saw Jethro tull there this year , hah those of you who know jethro tull might be laughing at the prospect of a 18 year old being into that but hey.... Ian anderson is the man (if you even know what I'm babling about)

He went to Harvard. (which doesn't mean shit and I can say that 'cuase I went to Yale :p )

i know jethro tull.. not exactly obscure, man. as a matter of fact I think I was listening to him at about that age (six or so years ago).. I give the band a C+ :D but they definitely have their niche.

I think I still have the album Dare to be Stupid on vinyl somewhere. I've heard his live shows kick ass, btw.

Nah in no way am I saying that Tull is my favorite, I'd just kind of suspect that tull is fairly obsure to people on these boards, I dont know I see you all being in the 20 -30 something age I'm more into Metal when it comes down to it (opeth, tool Novembre) that stuff but enough of hi jacking what is rightfully Al's....

Oh man I didn't even know they were touring. They are the two best concerts I have been to.

Heavy Horses stays in the disc changer in the car.

Speaking of TOOL, I would love to hear them cover Tull.
