Here's a quick tip for finding this road your first time out. Get off the 210 at Osborne and turn north from the off ramp. The road will curve right and right away there's a stop light where you need to turn LEFT. (I believe that's actually Osborne St.) It's a residential street at first, but soon it morphs into Little Tujunga and you know you're on track.
I just discovered this route recently thanks to the folks on this board, and I love it. Tight and challenging in places, and it helps to have modded your forks to take those steep and tight downhill turns without feeling like you're going to go over the bars.
Have fun!

Hey Brad,
I thought you'd like that road. How far did you go? Did you turn around after coming off the mountain into the residential part, or keep going?
If you didn't know about it already, you'll like that road even more when you find out that it's actually a gateway to a whole other series of canyon roads like Bouquet and stuff up Santa Clarita way. I've connected a bunch of those roads on rides, but you could really just keep going for hours, all the way up into Ventura county and make any number of cool routes without really using freeways. (Or you can connect to the east with the main Angeles Crest part of the Angeles Forest.)
This page on mulhollandraceway.org has a great overview map of the area, with Lil' Tujunga/ Sand Canyon starting at the bottom.

I was going up to Castaic with a buddy (he was following in his truck... I had to stop and wait for him several times), so we went up to Bouquet Canyon and into Santa Clarita...
I think I'm gonna have to find an excuse to do it again... And probably with other riders who know the area...

Note to moderators - can "Little Tujunga" be added to the title line?
Rode on Sunday. The closure is at the polo club. The street is closed, but the sidewalk (dirt) is open.
Saw a bunch of sportbikes riding on the sidewalk to get through. Don't know how legal this is.
The equestrians were frowning at them (mainly because they were blipping their throttles as they passed by - uncool to spook horses).
Here's my report of the road conditions from north to south (starting at Placerita Canyon in Santa Clarita, south towards Foothill Blvd in Lake View Terrace).
There is significantly more traffic than normal.
As you get into the twisties on the canyon floor, you come up on Live Oak Campground. There's normally two signs here. One that says Dip and another that says Flooded. This time it REALLY is flooded - several inches of water - as I passed through, it felt like someone threw a bucket of water on my boots. No traction problems at a reasonable pace, though.
As you climb out of the canyon towards the lookout and the Santa Clarita Divide, the road is a little more bumpy than usual. On the northbound side (descending), theres dirt between the tire tracks. Nothing serious, but you could slip a little. Southbound is fairly clean.
When you crest the divide and start to descent, the road is much bumpier than normal. Stock suspension will be upset. Road is pretty clear.
In the canyon floor, there's some dirt on the road - mostly in the northbound lanes. Not a real problem, though. As an aside, it was neat to see a lot of water flowing in the creek.
As you pass the bridge and make your way up, out of the canyon, there's some water in the road. Southbound (uphill) it's not a problem. Northbound (downhill) your traction could be compromised, as there's also some dirt on both sides of the water.
The first part of the descent towards the Wildlife Waystation is uneventful. This is the steep cliff wall on one side and the steep drop off on the other.
As the road opens up, a lane is washed out. There's plenty of warning as you approach the stop. This is a standand proceed when the lane is clear lane closure.
Pass the Waystation and proceed through the fast sweepers by the ranches. It is very dirty in this section. There's some construction going on here - you can see where they've moved dirt into large berms on the shoulder. At least it's only dirt and no rocks. Pass the shooting range and the ranger station.
The closure is at the polo club - this is almost at Foothill Blvd. Turn around or take your chances riding on the dirt sidewalk.
Little T is now open. They built a by-pass road to go around the bridge that has been damaged by the rain.

Woohoo!
Rode today.
The single lane construction above the Wildlife Waystation is complete!
It is now fully open!
Update to Sand Canyon, cinco de mayo, 2007:
eastbound from 14 fwy to placerita, there is like a 1-mile long patched trench, bumpy and unpleasant but watch out for trench plate westbound (see attached pic).

well we ended up doing santa susana pass instead, my friend with the R6 is a new rider and I wanted to show him that i can rock him with the SV, and boy he has mad respect for the SV now. I wish i had better suspension though, there was times where i almost lost it. But Santa Susana Pass is a nice little road. We turned into Box Canyon and that wasnt to fun crappy road and its too narrow i almost got hit twice by vehicles coming the opposite direction. But anyways nice little ride. We'll probably hit up Little Tujunga Sunday.

Box Canyon is my route to work. If you are heading southbound, the two descending decreasing radius turns are hawt.

Rode this today and yesterday. I like it a lot. What i dont like is my suspension. Everytime i hit a turn/corner it seems like the bike isnt as smooth as i want it to be. I can feel every bump and when i lean the bike it feels all wobbly. I have the stock suspension on it so im guessing thats why. Now do the other bikes feel like this i.e. GSXR, CBR, etc.? I love my bike but i beleive it needs way better suspension and maybe get rid off the d220s. Also what would you guys recommend to set the front suspension too? I see that you can tune it. Im about 185 with full gear.

So this road is clean now? We should turn this into an event like the the Malibu ride Sunday (http://www.socalsvriders.org/forums...1414#post361414)
Should be a lotta fun.
I vote we make it a weekend.

Anybody down to ride this route tommorow (6/10/07)? I heard it connects to a whole bunch of other routes, so maybe who knows it pretty well can lead the way. So far its just me and my buddy.

What time were you thinking of going?
I am planning on heading into the Santa Clarita Valley tomorrow morning, but going via San Fernando Rd./Old Road. and coming back on the 14.

I have a loop that starts with the map on post #1.
Head north from Sunland on Little Tujunga. Cross the 14 to Vasquez. Right on Bouquet Cyn and ride Bouquet to Eliz Lake Road (sometimes do Spunky up-and-back if I'm on the 'motard). Right on Elizabeth Lake to Palmdale, south on the 14 to the back of Angeles Forest Hwy and take that all the way in to Angeles Crest. Right on Angeles Crest to the bottom, which is the 210 and can return people home pretty quick.
On my own, I can do the loop in about 2 hours without stopping much (maybe gas and a gatorade in Palmdale), but I know the roads and ride quite fast. The route offers everything from tight, technical stuff (especially on Spunky, if you try it) to open sweepers and a small helping of highway and straight roads.
I might be up for doing this loop tomorrow AM. The earlier the better since it gets hot in the afternoon.
Chime in if you wanna go.

Evan,
Can you recommend a good, fun route with open sweepers into the Santa Clarita valley? I'm still a novice rider and I haven't ventured on Little T or Big T yet.

You could use Lower Big Tujunga starting in Sunland (Oro Vista is the street), take that to Angeles Forest Hwy and up to Palmdale on the 14 to Elizabeth Lake road. Thats not as tight as little T, but you'll have to retrace your steps once in SCV, or take the highway home. Maybe wander around on a GoogleMap and find some roads?
Remember that you should always be riding your own bike out there, not trying to keep up or show off. And riding unknown roads is much safer in a group than by yourself. If people are going tomorrow, you might try coming along... you can always slow WAY down and just enjoy the beautiful scenery up there. It really is a nice area.
You won't be a novice for long,
