I can't explain this, but it happened. I had to switch between my carbs and Zoran's a couple times. When I took mine off, they were working perfectly. The first time I put them back on, the damn thing would hardly run--spitting, backfiring, slow revving, in general, running like crap. I checked all the hoses and wiring, everything looked good. I took the carbs off, blew out every jet, checked the float levels, etc. Put 'em back on, and it ran perfectly. I have no idea what was wrong, but problem solved. The next time I swapped the carbs, it did the same thing. Did the whole procedure over again. This time it ran perfect except it was surging from 1100 to 1500 RPM at idle. It sounded like it was rich and loading up. Of course, I haven't had any problems with this set-up for the past year and a half, and have no explanation for this sudden change in behavior. I had nothing to lose, so I put the stock pilots back in and turned the fuel screws out to 3 turns. Viola! Fixed, and if anything, it's crisper and more responsive coming off idle than ever before so I'm leaving well enough alone. I still can't explain it, but I'm going with what works best.
Sound like whats happening with your bike maybe?
