View Full Version : Who will win AMA Superbike?

Well the Daytona 200 was quite the disapointment for several factory riders this year. 50% of the factory backed bikes did not finish. 2 for mechanicle and 1 due to rider error. So as things sit now Ben Bostrom is down 37 points because he scored 0 at Daytona, Eric is down 31 and Yates is down 29 points to searies leader Mladin. If that's not weird enough, true privateer Jack Pfeifer (WSMC racer!) finished 4th on a Frankenbike.
So do you think these three factory guys are totally out of the race for first? I don't think so. Mladin had a DNF last season and still won the championship by quite a bit. I really think this will be Eric Bostrom's year. The 999, when running, is an incredible bike. He is giving up nothing this year to the guys on the i4 1000s. The next round, a double header at Fontana, is a "point and shoot" track that actually favors the Ducati more than an i4. I wouldn't be surprised to see Eboz take the double header, but only time will tell.
Vote who you think will win the AMA Superbike Championship.

I think we'll see Mladin go all the way again.
He took it easy in the preseason because of questionable new tire compounds (considering last season, not a bad idea) Now that the money is on the line, he'll open it up.

Oh, I thought the question was "Who will be WWF Intercontinental Champion?". My bad. :D

Zemke or one of the Bostroms...
I hope...

Well, I saw E-Boz running faster lap times than Mladin without much trouble... It it weren't for the mechanical problem, I put him atop the box at Daytona (although Mladin's pit crew might have spoiled that with lightning tire changes)...
My money is on a Bostrom winning it though. I think the Honda is the strongest bike in the field. But I really feel that E-Boz is the most talented rider in the series, and that he can overcome. I see the championship:
1. E-Boz
2. B-Boz
3. Mladin
4. Zemke
5. Duhamel
6. Yates
We'll see how it stacks up several months down the road.

eboz cause he's due one and now he's on a competitive bike w/ good tires and alot of factory support.
zemke cause he's a funny guy and mad talented. 2nd on a track known for DNF's in his first AMASBK season is awesome

I beg to differ.
Anytime someone is still in good enough shape to make a "jerk-off" motion at you, you have not won a fight...

He won by decision from the refs, clearly not a KO.
i dunno if anyone is interested, but there's a ducati dealership in GA that has some eboz daytona tshirts left over from the daytona race for sale

Er . . . if you haven't voted yet, I'd say the smart money is on Mladin who's 3 for 3.

Yeah... Both Bostroms have just been having too many DNF's...
They would have to ride perfect for the rest of the season, and then would need to see Zemke, Duhamel and Mladin all have a couple of DNF's as well... Not likely to happen...
I'm pretty impressed with what I've seen from Zemke though... We'll see if he can keep it up...

I voted for Duhamel. I like his personality. Yeah, you heard me! [-(
I also like him because he helps me believe I could be racing at that age. I know I won't have time to race while I'm young, but I might find some free time once I've made something of myself.
Zemke comes in close second personality wise. :)

I think Ducati will be far more competitive this year. I could certainly see Hodgson make a run for it with Mladdin.
Has Honda improved enough in the last 12 months to be competitive?
It will be a lot closer this year, but in the end Mat Mladin will win it again. He is one smart racer!
