...and thanks to Gregg's wife Veronica and to all who showed up! I was totally blown away at how many bikes turned out...it was just earlier this year that we had a rag tag group of maybe ten SV'ers on the old boards...a big gathering back then was like six bikes! Now we have over 200 members and over 40 bikes showed up to the Gathering...that's amazing! It was great to match faces and bikes up with the names and avatars that we've been seeing here...:D
Today's trip had a few milestones for me personally...this was the longest ride I've been on, got to finally check out Ortega (and accidentally ended up leading a small pack of SV's), and I briefly saw 100 on the speedo for the first time! Hey, that's progress! Now if I could just get rid of my strips! :o
Hope everyone made it home safe and sound - and ticket-free!(sorry Craig!)
Now I just need to find some hot babe(s) to give me a backrub! :D

Yeah today was great. Glad to see so many people turn out for this. I was shocked just to see how many people showed up from the LA/OC area to ride through Ortega. As we were getting ready to roll out of that Chevron, I was like Holy Shit, the Hell's Angles aint got noth'n on us!
We'll have to do this again in a couple of months. Anyone who wants to volunteer their house can go right ahead.:D

What an awesome group.
Definitely a great turnout and great time today.
I echo the thanks to Gregg and Paul and to V.
The SD ride up (a dozen of us) was Solid. (you'll appreciate that if you saw the movie Undercover Brother)
It was so nice meeting everyone especially of course Crashgirl and Sandie (thanks for the Zuc...). Nice to see you kurt, monty, bill, tine and leigh. Grlstar how did your fender elimination work out? Britt, where were you??
We ran into a bit of drizzle on the way home otherthan that it was no troubles on the trip back to SD.
Take care everyone,

Many thanks to Gregg and Paul for organizing such a great gathering, and yeah it was a very cool scene with all those SVs lined up heading over Ortega Hwy. Later,Phootey
Yeah, thanks again Gregg, Veronica and Paul. That was a lot of fun. I've got a bunch of pics to post. And some short movies, too.
I think madmakr got pulled over by the cops on the way back to SD, though. He took off ahead of us, and we saw a green Kawasaki pulled over on the side of the 15 on the ride back. :(

Thanks again to Greg and his wife for graciously offering their house for the event. Kudos to Paul for the organization of the event. There was a ton of great bikes ( not one was identical to another ) and also met some super-nice people.
I hit some rain back to Valencia, but got home safe with no tickets or accidents...
Cheers, Doug

That was a great time. Thanks Greg for spending the time explaining to a newbie the basics of performance parts. And to your wife Veronica for putting together lunch. It was definitely appreciated. Hope to see you out riding soon.

I'd also like to echo the thanks to Gregg, Paul and V. We had a pretty calm ride back up to OC.
I was glad to have Aaron and Kurt to lanesplit with on the stupid 91 freeway, I think lanesplitting's about the most nerve racking thing possible on a bike and it was good to have some company.
Peace

I had an awesome time at the gathering and joining the LA/OC group for the ride through Otay. Nice road, too much traffic... Anyhow, I enjoyed meeting all of you. I'll be posting pics in a bit.
The ride back to Pasadena was fine. I decided to take slabs the whole way (15 -> 10 -> 210) Anyhow, there must have been an accident 'cuz the 10 was crawling and I ended up splitting for many miles. At least it kept me alert. ;)
Good to meet y'all, hope to see you around!
Later,
Tim.

Thanks to everyone who showed up. :D I was quite impressed by the number of bikes sitting in front of my house. I am sure my neighbors weren't tho.... :D
Was very kewl to meet everyone and put some faces to all the names here on the board.
Next time we will have to do it at someone else's place. That way I can just kick back too.... :p I did have a great time tho.
Thanks again everybody! :D
Thank you Gregg and Veronica! Thanks for being awesome hosts! It's really a pleasure meeting everyone. Sorry we didn't get to finish silkscreening.
Thanks everyone for coming and supporting our club! Thanks for the awesome pictures (http://www.socalsvriders.com/modules.php?set_albumName=gathering&op=modload&name=Photo_Gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php)!

it was kewl chillin'. i felt bad getting there late, but when i saw how laid back it was, i didn't any more ... it was nice to get such a warm welcome ... (i feel luv'd ... hehe ... ) ...
wish i had had my bike but if i did, i'd probably have not been able to sit there for as long as i did ... :D
i got back to norcal at 6am, it took us 7 hours (took us 8 on the way down), and that included stopping to put air in a low tire, which later blew on us and we had to change out for the spare, stopping at 8 different places thru out oakland because i had to pee so bad i thought i was going to throw up (finally found a place, and the guy was embaressed beause the bathroom was in "bad" condition ... haha. that's an understatement, but as i said to him "i don't give a shit, i gotta go" ...).
hmmm yah ... so ...
i'm going back to sleep ...
thanks to gregg and v ... wish i coulda seen gregg relaxin and socializing a bit more ...
i'll put my pix up at some point.

...just wanted to echo the sentiments expressed throughout this thread:
Muchas gracias to Greg and Veronica for hosting a great event! Greg, you have to be one laid-back kinda dude to let people root through your tools like that. You're a better man than I! Anyway, I had a great time meeting everyone; hopefully we I can make time to ride with some y'all in the neat future. It was aslo great to run into a couple of Purdue grads - GO BOILERS!
In addition to the good company and food, I got some great ideas for things to do to my own bike. I wonder what it is about the SV that just begs us to tinker with it?
Craig: Sorry to hear about the ticket. It rained on me almost the whole way back on 74, so I couldn't go fast enough to draw any negative attention.
P.S. OT, but did anyone who rode in on Ortega notice what looked like a Ducati Multistrada going the other way? Are those even available yet? Hunter, do you know? Just curious...
I'd like to add my thanks as well. It's very cool to meet so many genuinely nice people a month after moving to a new city.
I did get caught in a downpour on the way back to SD. It was almost like being back in the Mid-Atlantic swamp.

Especially Gregg and Veronica for being such gracious hosts, and to Paul for being the tireless force that turns the gears behind the SoCalSVRiders group.
It was great to meet all y'all in person. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.

telgmanj, you're another Purdue grad? I don't think I met you there... I graduated EE in Dec 2000... And despite the fact we missed it, the Boilers beat Minnesota... What time is it?!?! It's TILLER Time!!!
And I think the gathering was worth it... Just to see Leigh in a skirt :D

Greeg, Paul and Veronica...
I guess I didn;t get a chance to meet everyone, but it was really talking to so many people about one thing. I love the type of people this bike draws. Everyone was so freindly, especally some of the old timers. Ride on old timers! Now if I could get every to buck for my cause. If there is 200 caring SV people out there, then that should be just enough money to cover my speeding ticket. FYI, I was passing a car (legally) and the cop happened to nab be going faster than I usually would. Shame, really, but I heard you can't tell the cops anything or they will try to use it against you. Hopefully the judge will be a friendly Sv person. Any lawyers or judges in the house? I doubt it, but I had to ask. When is the next big group event? COunt me in.

I guess if I was going to ask for coverage on my ticket(s), I'd have to go to the main svriders page ... hehe. :D

Well, it's possible that one of the neighbors could have blue hair ... I mean, people would look at me, and at first thing "Is that ersigh?" ... but the they'd see the feminine style shirt and be unsure, then they'd see the skirt and be like "that is NOT ersigh!!" ...
hehe.
