One of my close friends came over saturday frustrated with his wife so as a pastor and a friend I suggested we enjoy some of God's country lined with some of man's black asphalt. The route took us here http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Caliente-BodfishRd.htm and then back to town via HWY 178 yet another canyon route. The ninja shined all the way keeping up with my new SV1000s except for the steepest where the torque of my new steed shined like the noon day sun. All the way up I was able at a whim to pull away; however, my buddy had enough on the way back. Down hill the advantage of the lighter bike made me feel foolish and even squidish as I pulled a rookie move using the rear brake in a switch back in effort to scrub off some speed. Well the tire broke loose I puckered and finaly got stopped 6ft from the cliff edge. Needless to say I was whooped for the rest of the ride home. The ninja still shines. :-) The road and weather is near perfect.

This sounds like fun although I drove the 65 from Porterville into Bakerspile and the road was pretty straight. I've never been on the 155 or the 178, so it sounds like a roadtrip is in order.

Cheers, Doug

Ha if your geared up for racing Famoso road has our local 1/4 mile strip. It was featured in Cycle World shoot out with the busa vs the zx. The track is open friday nights for grudge races I think it's around 15 bux total.

i went to highschool there,

its the only time ive ever been scared in a car when my buddy was going 90 up the cannyon in his 911 turbo.

its a fun road, but watch out for cows, we wrecked a friends jeep hitting a cow on that road before around a blind turn
